Emphasis on the word tries.
his generation of developers are slowly turning into grumpy old men and I love it
That was so painfully unfunny it wraps around to being funny again.
Does he realize that 1+1+40 does not equal 50?
Oh Tim, you sad sad man.
so this is one of the greatest writers in adventure game history huh

this is a person that asked for 400k for a game, got 3.3 million, and still didn't have enough money to complete a game.
Tim Schafer, just why? What the fuck is the point of this. Why would you even make this 'joke'?
Its like he wants to be hated..
It's funny how an unethical businessman/video game developer is doing everything he can to protect unethical video game journalists and other unethical video game developers from legitimate criticism.
I love a lot of Tim Schafer's work but lately he's been doing some shady shit. I remember when people were hating on Bobby Kotick but I think I completely understand and sympathize with the man now. Schafer can't budget and manage a project to save his life.

So I tried to find out what this NotYourShield thing is, but all I get is responses to this clip and a lot of people taking the use of a sock puppet especially badly despite the very end of the video suggesting he's using it as a generic Comedy Duo partner to his Straight Man.
Can someone fill me in? I'm failing to see how this pun's offensive, or how it's getting way stronger reactions than someone performing generic black humor. Or is it just causing disproportionate amounts of internet drama because gamergate's involved?

Basically anti-GamerGate was calling out gaming culture and #gamergate for a lack of diversity so #notyourshield was made as a direct response in order to say that these anti-gamergate people aren't speaking for people of different cultures, ethnicity, sexuality and genders.
Basically notyourshield was a reaction to games "journalists" and zealous social justice slacktivists using minorities and women in a shielding narrative in an attempt to overshadow claims against unethical behaviour
Participants of NYS are accused of being sockpuppets of white men despite contrary evidence, making everyone rightfully more angry
ninja'd, but still
It's like he's self destructing at the fact that the reputation he used to have is toppling down

Anti-gamergate has attempted to paint the opposition as white pasty misogynist nerds and Xbox Live racists trying to oppress minorities -- to deflect from pro-gamergate's actual goal of rooting out corruption in gaming journalism and game development.
Minority members came out in support with #notyourshield on Twitter, people of colour, women, non-hetero people, any combination of the above and so on, tweeted that anti-gamergate could not speak for them as a silent majority. Anti-gg has basically claimed them to be either brainwashed and acting according to "internalized misogyny/racism" (i.e. for being "too dumb" to pick the "right" side of the argument) or flat out sockpuppets as a way of denying the clear and persistent photographic proof.

honestly psychonauts is the only one of his games I've played and I've got to say all the jokes in that game were lame as hell
The next time Tim Schafer tries to open his mouth on gamer gate he should get it stuffed with that fucking sock puppet.
Haha, get it guys? He said they're making a piece of armour, and the people are saying it's not your shield.
The best jokes are the ones that don't really make sense at first and are delivered as well as Bane's "for you" line, classic Tim Schafer.
I still like Tim.
If this doesn't bring back Mr. Hat for south park, I don't know what will.
"Don't listen to Mr. Hat, but really, listen to Mr. Hat"

Ok play Grim Fandango and Full Throttle then, they're fucking amazing
I have a joke
How many years and how many developers does it take for Double Fine to finish a game?
[sp]I don't know, let's ask Bobby Kotick[/sp]
this is a person that asked for 400k for a game, got 3.3 million, and still didn't have enough money to complete a game.
Well that's what happens when gamers inflate a man with lots and lots of constant praise.
[sp]Looking right at you Gabe Newell.[/sp]

I respect his work but him as a person? Nah. He's anti-consumer, he's vocal for all the wrong reasons and he can't manage a project to save his life. Not to mention how he's treated his customers of the various early access games they've put out. If his company depended on any of these games being finished on time, Double Fine would have died in their infancy. Honestly, the only reason they still exist is because they were working with publishers up until 2013 and are now working with crowdfunded money for recent projects.
That's the problem with crowdfunded money, you're not accountable to anybody if you don't care about the people giving you the money. If you were wasting a publisher's money, they'd send a guy to evaluate the project, realize it's a fucking mess and either sack you or tell you to get your shit together.

That seems more like he's incompetent than he's a bad person though. He's an artist who's in a position where he has to deal with finances and he doesn't really know what he's doing.

I used to think that too, then I read his twitter.
hahaha, so butthurt
hahaha, so butthurt
by being anti-gamergate "in the honor of women and minorities in gaming", he's contradicting himself by making fun of a hashtag all about women and minorities not being used as an example by white men that try to guilt trip everybody.
he's essentially trying to save women and minorities by erasing them so they never exist in the first place.
hahaha, so butthurt
who's butthurt?

what's supposed to be special about that picture?
It brings a tear to my eye that with all this crowd funding he hasn't made a sequel to Psychonauts
what's supposed to be special about that picture?
The top picture (I think) is supposed to be a diversity lounge at GDC, or just GDC in general.
It's looking at race.
