I actually liked The Surge, but I'm not really sure how a sequel could be done unless they just retcon the first game. The game ended with [sp]Warren getting shocked into jerky by Utopia launching, frying his exoskeleton. The entirety of CREO is non-functional because the nanites have initiated a full takeover with the launch, so he can't just get a new rig installed. The world is either slowly going to get fucked up by Utopia or insta-fucked depending on whether you corrupted the payload data or not.[/sp]
Knowing that, unless they get a new character who magically survives or having it so Surge 1 didn't happen I don't know where they can go.

[sp] It's slightly different depending on the ending you get. If you don't tamper with the payload the nanites are poised to fuck the world up, but if you do tamper with it the ending instead gives you a conversation where the launches continue but with an inert payload and the government can't contact anyone at the launch sites, so a team is sent in to the Creo compound and gets ambushed by the rogue process. [/sp]
I imagine a sequel would take the [sp] tampered payload [/sp] ending to be canon, especially since the game kind of pushes you in the direction of doing it. A new character is probably most likely.

Whoops just realised I misread and you had in fact mentioned the seperate endings. Still though, I imagine the """"good"""" ending is the canon one since it leaves the most wriggle room for a sequel.
