That's pretty Random
I feel that I'm the only person on Facepunch that believes Daft Punk is overrated. [sp]Or was, anyway.[/sp]
I feel that I'm the only person on Facepunch that believes Daft Punk is overrated.
There's a few people with the same opinion, we just don't vocalise it as much as others.
I feel that I'm the only person on Facepunch that believes Daft Punk is overrated. [sp]Or was, anyway.[/sp]
They maybe are, but their music is still pretty neat.
How are they overrated?
People give them too much credit for things they haven't really done. They played a role in popularising House music but haven't really contributed anything that has pushed the boundaries of the genre.
Wee Waa Population: 1,689 On a side note I would expect a leak before then.
el snippo, Weekend Warrior said it better than I
People give them too much credit things they haven't really done. They were always just decent at best, quite overrated. I don't have doubts this album will be bad, but people hype them up way too much. Now Alice In Chain's new album that drops in May, THAT shall be awesome.

They make decent music, but in my opinion I've seen better.
I feel that I'm the only person on Facepunch that believes Daft Punk is overrated. [sp]Or was, anyway.[/sp]
I personally don't like them at all [editline]9th April 2013[/editline] Not my style of music
Wee Waa Population: 1,689 On a side note I would expect a leak before then.
More people than that are going to show up to hear them play
I really don't know if I believe this
Well there was the SNL thing that they did.
I feel that I'm the only person on Facepunch that believes Daft Punk is overrated. [sp]Or was, anyway.[/sp]
You sort of have to look at them as an influence to appreciate them.
Releasing an album in a rural town in Australia sounds like something that only a couple of douchy French hipsters would do. But srsly I love those guys and am interested on how this will turn out.
I feel that I'm the only person on Facepunch that believes Daft Punk is overrated. [sp]Or was, anyway.[/sp]
they have a pretty awful fanbase that literally worships them as creators of electronic music & act pretentious about it other than that they do a good job at putting out fun tracks here and there, I'm looking forward to hearing the album
Agreed. They were always just decent at best, quite overrated. I don't have doubts this album will be bad, but people hype them up way too much.
they have a pretty awful fanbase that literally worships them as creators of electronic music & act pretentious about it other than that they do a good job at putting out fun tracks here and there, I'm looking forward to hearing the album
i am a big daft punk fan and i think they were very influential (along with some other specific big-name producers, such as aphex twin, prodigy) and brought a lot of style to electronic music in general (the whole french house movement) but yeah, i would have to agree that their fanbase is really stupid, it's p much glorifying the duo into borderline internet meme shit constantly (if not already, we don't need 1000 shitty vst-slapped-on loops of a 15 second sample)
Can't wait 'till the release. [editline]9th April 2013[/editline] Although Australia is pretty random.
I feel that I'm the only person on Facepunch that believes Daft Punk is overrated. [sp]Or was, anyway.[/sp]
Cant really be overated if its been so long since they released anything. Hey this new album could be groundbreaking, or not. We wont know until its out. I for one am excited as daft punk is what introduced me to techno when I was a kid.
i quite like this not the actual song keep in mind
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hbAUwi4D3Ew I found this better than most stuff that Daft Punk has done.
i quite like this not the actual song keep in mind
This is what's been tiding me over till RAMs
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hbAUwi4D3Ew I found this better than most stuff that Daft Punk has done.
In my opinion, that is one of their worst songs. Here are a few better examples: It is really awkward to compare Daft Punk to Glitch Mob. They have extremely different goals, styles, preferences, and ways of manifesting themselves. It is almost like comparing completely different genres of music. I completely love Glitch Mob, but Daft Punk may have been one of the reasons for Glitch Mob to exist in the first place, it is important to keep in mind that Daft Punk were the guys that originally started extensive quantities of electronic bandwagons that we know and love today. Even if you do not like their music, they should still be appreciated as pioneers of music. Also pardon youtube for being slow as shit for no publicly announced reason. (as far as I am aware.)
People give them too much credit for things they haven't really done. They played a role in popularising House music but haven't really contributed anything that has pushed the boundaries of the genre.
I feel like nearly every electro artist has either Daft Punk or Devo listed under the "Inspirations" column.
This is even better than a world tour here, I- Oh.
People give them too much credit for things they haven't really done. They played a role in popularising House music but haven't really contributed anything that has pushed the boundaries of the genre.
Even if that is the case, and I do not necessarily think it is, it does not change the fact that a mind boggling amount of people were inspired by them. [editline]10th April 2013[/editline] I seem to have this peculiar talent of completely paralyzing any thread I post in.
God I hate the fandom. I absolutely love their music (thats just me) and am super hyped for the album. But I won't pretend they were like the pioneers of electric music. I would call them an early figurehead of what it would become, and they've kept a substantial influence to this day. But the certainly are not the be-all end-all
Why are you all complaining its in rural Australia, they barely get any fucking attention this is a GOOD thing
