Lets start out with a story :siren: :siren: Warning totally unnecessary story :siren: :siren:
A story of a boy and a dream. ME. I'm 4 years old and my mother hands me a book, after asking for her to read the name of the title, this boy finds out that its Pokémon Adventures . Weird, he has never heard of pokemon before and goes to open the book and his world is forever changed. Inside is perhaps the greatest comic ever. It tells of another young boy and his dream of being the greatest pokemaster of 'em all, but screw him, what are those delightful creatures he is commanding to fight. Violence another first , he goes on to read what he can and finishes the book. He is hooked. After that a few days later, he has yet another discovery. They made a cartoon, but its not the same guy from the cartoon, its this over loving, cocky douche bag named Ash Catch'em oh wait, i mean Ketchum. WTF?! This isn't the epic story of adventure and discovery, but the creatures are the same so he doesn't give a shit. So about 12 years pass and he has grown up with( and eventually out grown ) the cartoon and forgotten the comic, but not entirely. He still remembers, but just barely. So he is reading to these little kids for an after school community service event and he asks what they want to be read next. This kid raises his hand and blurts out "pokemon". I think "oh god not that shit", however he was surprised when the kid handed him a re-released Pokémon Adventures manga titled Pokemon Special . He literally has a flashback and remembers about this great work of literature, but come on, manga, do the damn Japanese have to ruin everything So he reads them the book and it really is the same one from when he was 4 but in manga version. So after that, he goes home and googles that shit. and can you guess what he finds, nope not porn... well...
Alright for those of you who didn't read the story [sp]Good for you, you didn't miss a goddamned thing.[/sp] And for those of you who did the boy found Pokemon Special: Unlike the anime, which, though drawing much inspiration from the games, does not follow them exactly, Pokémon Special is a mostly game-based manga, with the thirteen main characters taking their names from the main series games, and their various adventures tending to stay restricted to their home region. Also unlike the anime, which has gone to great lengths to SUCK and indicate the danger of a legendary Pokémon being captured, the main characters of Pokémon Special have captured and sometimes use their own legendaries, much as the player can in the games. Pokémon Special also contains darker elements than other media, including certain characters and some Pokémon actually dying. The series titled at first Pokemon Adventures, was translated into English and published in the United States by VIZ Media; however, publication stopped after the Yellow chapter. In June 2009, VIZ began re-releasing the series from volume 1 under the name Pokemon Special . Unlike the original English releases, which read from left-to-right (the way it goddamn should be :kratos:) like Western comics and had the art mirrored from the Japanese releases, these re-released volumes retain the original format, with the pages going from right-to-left. Following the re-release of Volume 7, Viz will begin to release volumes 8 on onwards for the first time in the Unites States. Pokémon creator Satoshi Tajiri is quoted as stating
"This is the comic that most resembles the world I was trying to convey."
Game producer Tsunekaz Ishihara also praises the series, saying,
"I want every Pokémon fan to read this comic!".
and last but surely least, for those of you who want more, then follow http://www.onemanga.com/Pokemon_Special/1 UPDATE: After remembering that onemanga translations stopped. I decided to conitnue my search for all of the translated chapters. Mangafox was the answer. I totally got lucky with this because there was an add for it at the bottom of this thread. Anyway http://www.mangafox.com/manga/pok_mon_adventures/ it has ALL of 355 chapters including the newest one and is still being updated.
coolio
Read this a long time ago. Thought it was cool back then.
If it's totally based on the game, then it's about your pokémons hurting themselves for a whole hour while battling a wild Zubat in a dark cave.
If it's totally based on the game, then it's about your pokémons hurting themselves for a whole hour while battling a wild Zubat in a dark cave.
oh god. The nostalgia :froggonk: MY PIKACHU DID NOTHING WRONG.

Fuck yea Pokemon!
Whenever that happened I got pissed off, yet I was too stubborn to switch out pokemon.
I usually kill Zubats in one hit with my pokemon, because for some reason they are a strangely high level.
oh yea i almost forgot Thread music
Pokeyman?
Also, making any of your pokemon self destruct causes them to faint. After blowing themselves up.
Also, making any of your pokemon self destruct causes them to faint. After blowing themselves up.
Anyone who's played the games before should know that.
I love PokeSpe

If it doesn't have Jesse, James, and Meowth it isn't worth it. And let's not forget Brock's never-ending quest to get laid.
If it doesn't have Jesse, James, and Meowth it isn't worth it. And let's not forget Brock's never-ending quest to get laid.
That's narrow minded, this series was pretty good
Its like naruto but with pokemon! KAWAII DESU! =^.^=
oh boy time to listen to the pokemon rap religiously
I've seen worse books with pokemon in them courtesy of comiket [Editline]f[/editline] :pervert:
When I was a little kid I had one of these in French. It was pretty tight. It's too bad that this doesn't represent the pokemon world. If you ask anyone (besides a facepuncher) about pokemon, they'll most likely think about the show, not the game. The game was really cool and so is this.
I used to have the pokemon yellow issue (I think that's what it was called) Yellow dropped out of school to be a pokemon master, but he's too poor and rodents invade his house... That's how he finds Pikachu. :v: Edit: Pretty sure it was called Pokemon Yellow Caballero
I bought a shitload of these off of ebay a while back, and yes, they kick the stupid fucking animes ass. At the time, all of my friends were going through a huge pokemon phase and they literally worshipped at Ash fucking Ketchums feet. I, however, felt much cooler and more awesome because nobody had even heard of Pokemon Special. Ah memories.

It's just called Pokémon Adventures: Yellow. and no, she disguises as a boy and tries to save Red.
Oh man, I used to have some of these. Nostalgia'd
I like how you can see the pokemon in the balls
Yellow is a girl. It's just called Pokémon Adventures: Yellow. and no, she disguises as a boy and tries to save Red.
Would you know where I can find scans of it? Since I do not have the comic anymore and was pulling that description from when I read it as an 8 year old.
http://www.onemanga.com/Pokemon_Special/1
Oh, I can't seem to find it in there, but I found a different chapter with yellow in it. (90, I don't think it's that far though?) I'll continue my search after I get some sleep. My vision is fogging up.
Where can I find any RAW scans of this?
