University network blocks WoW and it's respective launcher, any way I can get it working?

I just moved into my University dorm with the expectance that it blocks online gaming, however I have found that it only blocks online gaming that uses P2P and certain specific games as Source games work fine.
More to the point I'd like to get WoW working, latency is not a huge issue because I will not be raiding.
WoW itself hangs gives me an "Unable to Connect" error, the Cataclysm Beta launcher tells me it can't obtain patching information.
Any ideas? I'm on Windows Seven Ultimate x64.
Complain to the staff?
I don't think the university will let you use their internet for gaming if you go up and ask them.
Sounds a bit weird really, why would a university do that?
P2P uses a lot of bandwidth

It's possible that he may be part of those weird universities that expect their students to use the network for studying rather than playing MMORPGs.
I don't know and it is rather agitating. But I have asked in the past if they could allow WoW and they declined. I also cannot access XBL or PSN.

It makes sense that they block P2P connectivity as most file sharing services use that.

Accept it and move on. The university obviously doesn't want you clogging the network with your P2P traffic as well as using their network for games, not studying. Deal with it and take the opportunity to stop your WoW addiction.

Do you know the OP personally? I don't recall him talking about any WoW addiction, just him wanting to enjoy a game like you probably do once in a while too.
Tunnel WoW through port 80?
At school I use Proxifier and yourfreedom, it tunnels programs through port 80 (or whatever port is open), however yourfreedom only lets you stay online for 30 mins before it kicks you out (you have to pay for unlimited). I'm sure there are other programs than yourfreedom but it's the only program I know.

I don't have an addiction at all, I play it every now and then because I enjoy it and I do not want to miss out on Cataclysm. Is that such a problem? I pay for this dorm which in turn pays for the internet, really there shouldn't be so many arbitrary restrictions.

I'll give it a shot, thanks.

Any chance you could guide me on how to do this?

Nevermind, think I've got it! The launcher is still giving me errors though.
I just realized there is a grave problem with my solution (unless you're willing to pay 30 Euros a month for unlimited yourfreedom bandwidth.)
The thing is, Proxifier reroutes WoW traffic locally to a port. The port is then used by yourfreedom to their server, which then sends the info to WoW servers, then back, so you can play/download/whatever. Allowing your to bypass this block. However, you will always be dependent on an external server (In this case, yourfreedom, although you COULD ask someone savvy for a free VPN or something though). And the problem with this is that yourfreedom wants you to pay to get unlimited bandwidth. The free version caps you at 56KB/s (which isn't much, plus it kicks you after 30 mins, and you're only allowed something like 50mb per week or some shit).
If someone else has a better idea, go ahead, but as far as I can tell, you're SOL unless you pay some cash.
30 euros? What's wrong with the 4 euros a month option? 256kb/s should be more than enough to play WoW casually, surely? I'm not expecting to raid or anything.
Ah, they must've changed since I checked last time.
Hm, 10000ms, that's a bit higher than I expected.
Use another EMS server?
Actually it seems to be totally random, it's gone down to 100ms now v:v:v

I seem to be getting frame jumps every few seconds, which is odd. Any ideas?

Nevermind, it's something to do with an addon.
Now if I could just get the Beta Cataclysm launcher to function, any ideas there?
