Problem description: This new PC has been giving me so many headaches.
So basically, I built my PC, it didn't post. I sent it to a PC shop (for free), they tested everything, and it was all in working order and performing very well, just a few first build wiring mistakes. So, they install W7 on my PC, I pick it up, and start installing stuff. But it starts to freeze without a BSOD and I have to reset. It will freeze during anything, browsing, opening a tab, 5 minutes into a game (400 man SP battle on M&B maxed out at like 80 FPS), browsing a game's menu, closing something, etc.
Attempted fixes: I've flashed my BIOS to an earlier version since I've heard the newer version can be unstable. I've tried reinstalling, I've tried reformatting. I've tried getting just the essentials (Chipset and Video drivers). I've also unplugged everything except my WiFi adapter, Keyboard, and Mouse. I've reformatted my Windows on a separate partition aswell.
I've put my PC through this Burn In test three times on the latest reformat. I tested everything at 100% load except the printer. No errors on the three fifteen minute tests.
Then, I get Chrome, Java, and Minecraft, and after a little walking around in SP, my PC freezes again and gives me no BSOD and forces a reset.
Recent changes: Well, I thought it might be the drivers, so I reformatted.

I have Googled and read the FAQ: Yes
Please help me out guys I'm totally stressing.
Try reseating stuff, especially your ram. Run a memtest for each ram stick too.
Right, I took out one stick, left another one in the slot, and it worked. I'm testing with M&B Warband, 400 Man SP battle by the way, since I haven't finished a battle without a freeze.
But, with that other stick out, it kept going and I finished 2 battles. When I put the defective stick by itself, it froze in the first couple seconds.
Any other variables I should try or do I have a culprit?
Also, I have them seated in slot 1, when they're both in, slot 1 & 2. Should I try another other combinations? The mobo manual says to put them in Slot 1 &2, but, I'll try another before having to RMA.
Are your ram set at 1600 MHz or is it 1333? I have 1600 and when I set the BIOS to use 1600 MHz I would get a BSOD, worked fine when using 1333 MHz. The thing was, I had to up the voltage to 1.5 volts to get it stable.
My ram is capable of 1600, but, I'm keeping it running at 1333.

That's one way of testing, but you can perform a memtest, which is a program that you'll have to burn on a cd (or maybe also possible on a usb stick, not sure though). You boot from it and it performs tests to see whether something is wrong with your ram. You'll have to let it test for pretty long though. Like leave it on overnight.
Well I guess I could try the memtest, but, I've been playing a lot of games without a freeze so far. I've been testing variables since yesterday morning. I think it's pretty safe to say that it's this one stick.
I'd rather RMA it sooner then later to be honest. :v:
It is saturday so I guess I can leave it overnight anyhow.
Games are not a valid test for bad memory. Run memtest on both sticks for at least a few passes and see if it spits out any errors. You can determine which stick is bad based on the address the bad bits are at.
Since you have two 2 GB sticks, and example would be if it found a bad bit in location 1463.68MB. Memory mapping in most desktop boards is linear and starts in the first physical memory slot on the motherboard (usually printed on the board) and ends at the last slot on the board. 1463.68MB would be located in stick 1, so you know that stick is bad.
Memtest went crazy on the bad stick. RMA'ing it to Newegg.
Went to Fry's, found 2x4gb DDR3 1333 Corsair XMS3 sticks for 75 bucks after rebate. Got them instead, PC works like a charm now.
