Wondering if there is a way I can use a flash drive while in a virtual pc. Corrently running Windows 7 on VirtualBox (Not VirtualPC).
Google didn't really give me any help so I was wondering you guys knew how.
Two ways:
1. Before starting the VM, go into settings > USB, make sure the USB controllers are enabled and then hit the Add Filter button and select your flash drive. Exit the settings, start the VM, and it should automatically capture the drive.
2. Quicker method: While the VM is running, right click the USB symbol at the bottom of the screen and select your flash drive. The USB controllers must be enabled for this.
The latest version of VBox seems to have trouble with certain drives, if you get an error try a different drive if you have one.
Yea, open the settings of the Virtual Machine and then on the right column, click USB. On the left side click the plus sign and add your USB controller.
Just so you know, the VM will take control of the USB drive while it's turned on. You won't be able to use the drive in both your normal OS and in the VM. (Unless they fixed it in a newer release, mine is a few months old)
