Ok, so I found this: http://www.software4students.co.uk/Microsoft_Windows_7_Professional_64_bit_Upgrade_Edition-details.aspx 1.) Does this look OK, or is it too good to be true? 2.) Since it's an upgrade disk, can I still legally keep my XP installation on a seperate partition, when I've used my XP install disk as "proof" during the Win7 upgrade installation? Thanks.
It's true, but I think you can't upgrade from xp, can you? Unless you "hack" the upgrade.
I've got the exact copy, as long as you have a legit version of windows on the hard drive it should work.

If you are wanting to upgrade to Professional, you have to do a clean install unless you read #2. 2. You can create partitions on a hard drive and put an OS on each easily. Just during installation pick the drive you partitioned. It's perfectly legal
Ok, so I just backup all my documents and music, ETC Shrink my XP partition a bit, and install Win7 on the rest of my HD? Brilliant, thank you
Yeah, make sure you have enough space though. You can shrink your XP partition to make room for a new one, to install Windows 7 onto.
Will do I'm excited now :3
Check if your school's subscribed to MSDNAA, free is better than £40.
I checked, but as far as I can tell they haven't :/ Still, I went ahead and bought it... Thanks for all of your input :D

Awesome How much space should I leave for XP? I have a 250gb HD
I installed XP, then restarted PC via my Windows 7 Upgrade disk from software for students and chose custom install, did it fine and is working so smoothly. I upgraded from a Windows XP home edition 32 bit to Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit, worked fine, no problems
Awesome How much space should I leave for XP? I have a 250gb HD
I split mine in half. I have a 160GB HDD on my xp/windows 7 computer. As for my main computer, I also have a 250GB HDD which I split in 3 sections. I have windows 7 64 bit and windows 7 32 bit on it. I don't know what to use the 3rd one for :D. It's more than enough for me. If you save movies and other video files or large amounts of programs then you should create more space for it. Though I am pretty sure you can resize it if needed, if there is space.
I've used up something like 148gb on my disk at the moment O-o I guess I'll clean up a load of old crap that I don't need
