Youtube Purge: Youtubers losing tons of subscribers

A couple months ago there was a problem on youtube where a youtuber will lose tons of subscribers rapidly.
Today it came back
The Prank Reviewer just lost 500.

Check to see if you are still subscribed to your favoite channels.
What a shame
Is Youtube doing this or is this related to the hacks I've heard about?
Wait what? Is this Youtube unsubbing us from channels or is this them clearing out bots?
'Cause if it's the former than that is extremely stupid and shitty of them.
EDIT: Ninja'd
Maybe they're bots or something?
Maybe they're bots or something?
No, unfortunately. I've seen a few people on my Twitter complaining that they're actively being unsubbed from these channels.
nevermind
Isn't it mostly inactive/bot accounts?
this is youtube purging invalid subscriptions, at least on my channel I believe the purge to be valid.

i lost 53 subs to this which has made my subscriber count correctly match my analytics' lifetime subs stats

my "actual" sub count (on my dashboard and socialblade) has been 1,230+ while this number in my analytics was at 1,180 ~ 1,190 the whole time
so idk i cant talk for the 600k pewdiepie lost but i believe that all the 53 subs i lost were just incorrectly calculated subscribers from the beginning which were never correct according to my analytics
Funhaus just celebrated 1 million subscribers... And immediately lost 40 thousand :v:
i lost 10 :'(
rip
Few years ago Youtube was "cleaning up" subscriptions, by removing closed accounts and stuff, maybe this is something similar. And just like DatHarry the number of subscribers displayed on the channel page and in the analytics were always different.
...this actually have been going on for a while, it just hit the big youtubers.

these are two videos 2 months back talking about it.
I'm more blown away by this socialblade site and the fact that people like pewdiepie make $76.7K - $1.2M a month.
Fuck!
Wouldn't be surprised if youtube is invalidating subs from accounts that have been inactive for over x amount of years.

it's probably more than that. when markiplier got hacked it was revealed he made 650k at 11m subs.
now quadruple that...
the death of youtube is nigh
I lost like 1,000.
No subscriber milestone for me.
Huh I lost about 100.
From around 2850 down to 2750.
youtube pls
:stop:
I lost about 1400. When pressured about it, Team YouTube had this to say.

So from what I can gather, something has gone wrong somewhere. If it was a standard cleanup, surely they'd mention that.
I gained 2 subs. Now I have 5!
This has to be some kind of exploit
I have spotted a few subscriptions of mine have gone missing, and I've had to re-sub.
No clue why it's happening, but it's annoying on both ends.
As long as Drama Alert is losing more subs i'm okay.
Im subbed to so many people that I wouldn't even know who I've lost ;7
I had 833 subs last night and all of a sudden i'm back at 800 :frown:

I've been using the same account since like 2006, I have no idea who most of my subscriptions are :v:

damn youtube, here i was justifying the subscriber loss as some kind of cleanup but they actually fucked up again lol
this gives me so many questions, how come the loss made my analytics correct? was that just coincidence? does this mean my analytics is supposed to be like 50 subs lower than my actual count?
this has been happening a lot recently with subs... idk how they keep fucking up the numbers but i can't help but feel like people like me, a creator with a smaller channel that has a small group of viewers that i know by name, could actually suffer quite badly from this if they don't recover the lost subs..

Kinda a weird explanation considering that people have been complaining about having to resubscribe to channels they'd previously been subscribed to though.
