• Cannot Burn file to a DVD.

I was reccomended the program Imgburn to use for burning a file to a disc. The file in question is an ISO file for a gamecube game. (My original copy became too scratched to work anymore, believe me, i've tried everything.) So yeah i'd like to burn it so I can play the game once again. However, on imgburn i'm getting errors. First things first, my CPU has a built in DVD burner in the D: drive. However, in Imgburn the D: drive will not show up under my drives. (Only my E: Drive for CD ROMS is recognized.) If I attempt to put the DVD ROM in the E: Drive instead it says that there is not a disc. I know it isn't a problem with Imgburn because the disc isn't recognized by My Computer. It isnt the discs either because i've tried two different brands. So yeah, any ideas? Thanks a lot in advance.
Does burning/reading CDs still work? Is it only DVDs that are doing this? I ask this because when my DVD drives start dying out, they'll refuse to work with DVDs and continue to work with CDs just fine.
Yeah I can still burn CD's in the E: drive. My Dad likes to burn radio stories to CD's and he burned one just a couple days ago.
My best guess then is that your drive is going bad.
My best guess then is that your drive is going bad.
What do you mean, going bad? Is there a fix?
What do you mean, going bad? Is there a fix?
Sometimes DVD drives just die out and stop working (either completely, or do things like your drive is doing). I'm not quite sure what happens to them on the day that a drive stops writing like it's supposed to, but generally the only way to get around it is to buy a new drive. I've had the same issue in the past with other computers, around the workplace, and have the same issue now on my current PC. I'd try the drive out on another machine if you have one handy before going for a new drive, just to be sure it's the drive. Searches through Google often lead you to people with the same issue and same resolution.
Thanks for the help. I cannot get a new drive because i cannot afford it. I guess i'll just have to go without.. At least I know what the problem (probably) is. Thanks a lot.
If I can suggest one, this $20 drive looks like it will be of use to you without hurting your wallet too bad. By the reviews, it seems to work great.
