Do you guys think other universes exist?
In my opinion, other universes are definitely a possibility/reality. After all, we can't be the the ONLY THING out there unless the entire outside of our universe is just a big singularity or we'll just keep expanding into the unmade space-time outside our universe.
What do you mean by "universe"?
What do you mean by "universe"?
Universe as in the world we live in. The current sitting place of the Milky Way galaxy and billions of other galaxies, black holes, quasars, stars, nebulae, and solar systems.
Agree with Kirill, what is another universe? Universe contains everything, doesn't it? If there are two universes, wouldn't they still be one but with some empty space apart?
Universe as in the world we live in. There are no borders so you can't really define them. So I'd say there is only one universe.
Well, I could imagine if there would be other universes/worlds with different laws of physics and so on, but, since a universe is like a never ending space, we wouldn't be able to go to these universes, because to be able to do that there would have to be some kind of a border between the two (or more) universes.
If a universe really is never ending, then there wouldn't be a possibility for any border to exist at all, which would eliminate the possibility of there being any other universes, UNLESS the connection between the worlds is not related to time and/or space and is beyond our imagination.
But we don't even know if the universe is really never ending.
Either way, this is very hard to even imagine with an average human brain, but perhaps it is possible.

I would call the space between the universes/worlds a multiverse since it contains all the possible universes that exist, but there is only one multiverse.
The debate is pointless since we have no conclusive data either way.
It's not like "Is abortion right?"

Although on this note I can say this:
The surface of the world is never-ending. You can walk forever in one direction and you'll never leave the surface of the earth (assuming you can walk on water). But that doesn't mean the earth itself is infinite.
(What I'm trying to get at here is that our Universe could be infinite in x, y, z and time, but not in higher dimensions)
I believe the universe is infinite and has lasted since forever ago and that there are others just in different dimensions.

This. Even though the topic is really interesting and a lot of people including me are really curious about this, unfortunately the debate is pointless.

Very interesting, I've never thought of this before.

For further reading.
If our universe is contained within an infinite multiverse then the chances of there being another universe are very high, almost certain.

I think it is well established that the universe isn't infinite, and is in fact expanding, however it does beg the question of what exactly it is expanding into.

What if the universe was everything? If there were no outside?
What if the universe was everything? If there were no outside?
But it's expanding so there has to be an outside.

It's like saying "Is Religion Real?" yet we still have debates on such a topic.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Multiverse
All this is so beyond "ordinary" human thinking capabilities. We just cannot comprehend the vastness of our universe, let alone the thought of other universes.
This debate is way too new for us. One answer will only summon more questions.
The universe is expanding into space... think of space as an infinite empty canvas. Space itself is the literal definition of nothing. It contains no chemicals, substances, elements and so forth. It is by definition the lack of something - so of course it is infinite.
Which makes this completely possible, but completely unprovable. The white circles represent one universe.

It also leaves this completely possible too, but yet again completely unprovable. The red circles represent one multiverse (in this demonstration a multiverse is defined by the maximum distance to the nearest universe).

However, it would be more logical to treat the entire mass within space as the "Universe". Regardless of space between them.
It's like saying "Is Religion Real?" yet we still have debates on such a topic.
That's silly, ofcourse religion is real.
Universe as in the world we live in. The current sitting place of the Milky Way galaxy and billions of other galaxies, black holes, quasars, stars, nebulae, and solar systems.
You don't know the meaning of universe then. Our world is just our planet.. an insignificant part of the whole cosmos, yet it's everything to us.
So I don't think other universes exist, there's just this one big Universe we live in and there are a lot of planets, worlds etc out there.
How the hell did the universe come into existence.
How the hell did the universe come into existence.
The "Big Bang" as they say.
But I believe there's more to it. And I believe that's not relevant since it's been 14 billion years since Big Bang anyway.
It's like saying "Is Religion Real?" yet we still have debates on such a topic.
There's a difference.
Here the debate is:
"We don't have any data about what happened before the Universe, what do you think happened?"
In religion, it's:
"We don't have any data about what happened before the Universe, therefore God did it."
One invites discussion, the other postulates an untestable hypothesis.

Then how did that arrive from nothing, it doesn't make sense.
Then how did that arrive from nothing, it doesn't make sense.
No serious scientist thinks anymore that Big Bang was the ultimate beginning of everything. There are lots of theories: some redefine a concept, like "void": void it's not actually empty, is full of energy. Relativity says that matter can become energy, but energy can become matter too (even though it's highly unlikely). So there you have it, all from nothing. I actually prefer the Penrose theory, it's a lot more wacky and strange.

I agree. Also, not everything has a cause, the human mind is quite brainwashed to think so, because almost everything in existence has a cause.
Then how did that arrive from nothing, it doesn't make sense.
Well it is what it is, one big fucking mystery.
The fact that we were born stuck on a planet literally in the middle of no where (the vastness of space) makes no sense either.
It's overwhelming to even think outside of the box for a second.
Arghhh.. too much science content!
-fuck et

How did god came to existence? He created himself,as a conscious entity however that worked
How was universe created?Huge explosion containing huge amount of physical entities, chemical molecules etc...And then it took millions/billions of years for some planets to form and for the universe to slowly expand.
Just go onto Wikipedia or something to look further into it

No, man made God with his mind.
