I just wanted to share this video for those who haven't already seen it. It's amazing what goes on down there, it's like an alien world.
Words cant describe how fucking amazing this is...
A lot of these creatures are:
On what planet did they record this?
This is why H.P. Lovecraft scares the crap out of me at some points
That very first jelly think looked like giant lips and in my head it was saying: "Feed me Seymour, Feed me!"
i'm interested in this rainbow squid thing.
I'm afraid of deep sea creatures... Even whales. :smith:

I love the Clione limacina.

I wish I could make my bones glow.

It is like a disco in sea.

If this isn't proof of evolution i don't know what is.
How the fuck do the worlds most colourful creatures end up in the darkest corners of the earth?
So that's where crashed aliens hide?
How the fuck do the worlds most colourful creatures end up in the darkest corners of the earth?
Because it's the darkest corner of Earth, and organisms will be attracted to light. [editline]9th April 2011[/editline] evolution happens then viola
Exactly, these things dwell in the deepest parts of the seas. What is even more amazing is that they were captured on video! Food is also scarce, so as you can see, most of them just kinda like float around, using little-to-no energy doing so. They are truly energy efficient! Something which we, humans, are not. :v: Thanks for the video, even though I have seen some of them, I don't think all of them are in the Planet Earth series.
I love stuff like this
This shows that In a way, there is some form of beauty hidden in the depths of our planet's seas... A place we never even began to suspect.
Its crazy to think about the amount of thousands maybe millions of undiscovered creatures there are residing at the deepest parts of our ocean
this is why im scared as fuck of the ocean
Because it's the darkest corner of Earth, and organisms will be attracted to light. [editline]9th April 2011[/editline] evolution happens then viola
Only blue light makes it that deep so anything that is red is invisible. Things are clear because there is really just no need for pigmentation in the first place. Big eyes pick up more light enabling you to see things betters. Having bioluminescence helps attract food. [editline]10th April 2011[/editline]
Its crazy to think about the amount of thousands maybe millions of undiscovered creatures there are residing at the deepest parts of our ocean
They usually discover a new species on every dive. [editline]10th April 2011[/editline]
I love stuff like this
So do I. [editline]10th April 2011[/editline] I felt obligated to post in this thread. [editline]10th April 2011[/editline] Also, most of these things never meet a hard surface in their life.
That red octupus thing is fucking awesome. At 2:40 I love the way it has spine-like things to move around and use as a weapon.
the one at 1:45 is awesome.
The owl of the seas.
I love the way it has spine-like things to move around and use as a weapon.
Actaully the spines are more like soft tentacles, that thing is incredibly lazy If it's attacked, it turns itself inside out so it looks like a big ball of spikes, then very slowly drifts away
First one's like a piranha plant.
