As the title suggests, I'm having random shutdowns. There is no blue screen, it's almost as though someone has pulled the plug out of the back. This happened while I was playing Minecraft and another Java based game, could be a coincidence.
This has happened a few times this week, and this week only. I have updated my video card to the most recent version as far as I can remember.

Your computer prevents itself from burning down. Your temperature is WAY too high. My CPU (AMD FX-8150 8 cores on 4.2 Ghz is 41 C when idling and 60 C when on load, and I'm using a Scythe Mugen 3 for cooling. I think you overclocked your CPU or you're using a laptop and you have it on your lap, so it can't lose it's heat.
Are you running on a laptop? I've had this happen to me before when I made th emistake of sitting with it to the point that the heat wasn't able to escape and it'd overheat
It certainly sounds like an overheating problem
Thanks guys. I'm actually running a desktop, but it does get pretty damn warm. I'll go and clean the heatsinks etc when I get home.
Get some canned air. It will help you getting rid from most of the dust. Also seen the specs I'm guessing your system is pretty old. Consider replacing the thermal paste.
If you get some canned air to blow away the dust, do not hold the can upside down. Just a tip that I have heard from others. I would recommend an air compressor if you have one. Also, be sure so you don't blow directly onto the fans, or the fans might break. Put a pen or something inbetween so it prevents it from spinning.
Holding the can upside down makes it blow out super cold air iirc. I wiped all the dust off the heatsink/fans and now I'm getting 56C. Still too hot?

Better, maybe replace the thermal paste. It should be somewhere around 35 to 40 idle.

Yeah, that's what it was idle. Will get some paste for Christmas seeing as there is nothing else I want/need.
