He has resigned as leader but says he might run as leader again in summer. So nothing much will actually change.
In other news Nick Clegg also resigns and Ed Milliband is expected to do so also.
It doesn't help that his party has a lot of nutters in it.

He's only resigning because he said he would if he lost his seat. He'll be back, ukip wouldn't survive without him.
It wasn't the fact that noone was voting for him; UKIP did came out the third biggest party, but it's the First Past The Post system that prevents smaller parties from gaining influence.
