My computer is saying that no hard drive is installed.

I have a Dell Dimension 4600c that my cousin gave me because he bought a new computer. I took the monitor to use as a second one, and yesterday, I plugged the 4600c up so I can reformat it to give to my brother. This is about a ~7 year old computer, but it ran great a few weeks ago. So I boot up, and I pop the XP disc in, and after the set up starts, it tells me I don't have a hard drive installed. I boot into BIOS and check the hard drive configuration, and it shows up as "Unknown device". I go check the boot sequence and see "Hard Drive (not installed)". So my best guess is that the hard drive has finally died. Now here's my question; which type of hard drive do I buy to replace? I got some info off the Dell website:
Your computer supports:
* One hard drive (IDE, serial ATA)
* One optional PC Card module
* One CD or DVD drive
Will this work with this computer? http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822148236
Here are some pictures of the computer. And thanks for any help and feel free to recommend a higher capacity hdd that will work.

Went with the 160Gb.
While your at it why don't you clean your CPU heatsink?
Will do, there's dust and such everywhere.
Are you sure it's not your IDE jumpers fucking up? Sometimes they do that and the computer stops recognizing them.
Hmmm, diagram of how I can check this?

How can a jumper "fuck up"? Unless you move the jumper around, that's not possible.
If the machine supports SATA, I suggest getting a SATA drive. Dell usually uses regular ATA drives unless otherwise specified when the computer is ordered.

sata in a 7 year old dell?
Is it just me that thinks your computer looks like it's been dropped off a 5 level building, several times over?
Try updating your BIOS?
