Usually I change the oil on my cars myself. But our honda civic is too low for that, and I don't have a lift for it (although they are cheap, I know), so I took it to a Valvoline service shop to have some stupid teenagers fuck my car up.
Anyways, they did the same thing to my car they did to this ladies chevy blazer the previous time I was there- put the oil nozzle into the engines oil valve, walk away, only then for the nozzle to fly out spraying oil all over the car. Hey, atleast they covered the fenders, they tried... Anyways, I'm sure they do this to people on a daily basis, and I was one of the victims. When my brother came back with the car (he took it for the change), I noticed the whole side of the car had dots going down it, the window had goop all over it, and the rubber seal-trimming around the window and roof had specs on it. They sprayed oil all over it.
The next day I took it for a car wash, and the specs are all gone. Its a black car anyways. I'm just wondering if I have to worry of any future/permanent damage from this little accident, like paint fading in spots where the oil contacted. I doubt if there was any damage I could prove it was from the employees, but I'd have to imagine they'd have surveillance footage?
Anyways, just wondering, since I'd hate to have to get the car repainted in the future from a mistake some teens made. They were even laughing their ass off I heard when they did this. :/
You're fine. Standard engine oil won't harm paint, just make sure you get it really clean.
Oil is oil so remember that it doesn't really just rinse off, a decent grease cutting dish soap(and water of course) should probably take it off and be "soft" enough to the paint if you just need to spot clean some.
Those wonderful drive-thru shops do shit like this all the time and love to rip you off for everything you're worth. They don't give a shit about your car and most likely would deny everything unless you noticed it on the spot and started up shit before paying/leaving. If they do have cameras I guarantee they are only there to catch employees stealing tools or something.
I'd also be horribly worried that they would but the incorrect amount of oil in if they just fill it and walk away..

Oh, they've over-filled my car before. I've taken my outie there once when I really couldn't change the oil because I was VERY busy, but needed an oil change, so I brought it there before work. All was good, went to work, got back home, its a brand new car so it was running great. Later that night my neighbor (we're in an apartment) knocks on my door to let me know she thinks my car is leaking oil. "Great" i'm thinking, I didn't have a doubt in my mind they fucked something up. Yep, it was leaking oil, my brand spanking new '12 Outlander GT. Afraid they stripped the drain plug, or forgot/wrecked the gasket from overtightening, I jack the car up, only to find they loosely secured it. I go to check the oil, and on top of that they overfilled the shit out of it.
So trusting them with my honda was my own stupid fault, I apparently didn't learn my lesson the first time, and even the first time I knew that dumbass jiffylube teenagers don't give a damn about your car. What cheap garage does? Lol.
You would think they would care more because if they fuck up your vehicle they are responsible for the damages.

Like I said, most of the time you don't have proof they did it. And plus, a good majority of the people that bring them to these places havent much a clue about mechanics or cars, so they don't notice mistakes in the first place, like how they over-filled the oil in my car, I mean plenty of people think a "dipstick" is just a sexual innuendo for penis... Lol, so they won't be checking the oil to see if its correctly filled. These are the stupid people that caused car companies to use idiot lights instead of gauges which could tell us somethings not quite right....
Or maybe its a conspiracy! Yeah, the car companies took away the gauges and replaced them with useless idiot lights so that when valvoline messes up, you won't know, your car'll break down, and you'll have to take it to the dealership to get fixed!!!!!
Get a 3+ ton jack for $50. Get a pan, oil and filter for $50. Drain plug/gasket $20.
Do it yourself and you'll be in a lot less hurt. It doesn't even take that long; remove drain plug, drain it, remove filter. Clean everything off with a rag then install new filter. Torque the drain plug to spec. Fill it up with oil occasionally checking the oil stick.
Lot less hassle and you don't have to pay for their services. You also get to choose your own oil and filter so that's always a plus.

My man, reread the OP.
Usually I change the oil on my cars myself.
I very well know how to change the oil and the costs. :P
In the outie's case, I was short on time and could not do it myself. It was the first time I've had anyone other than me or the dealer service the car (I unclude dealer because I had them flash the ECU since the Outlanders have some limiter on it to save fuel, and also something that determines how far down you will press the petal blah blah blah which causes the car to have less responsiveness, and throttle lag, so I had them flash it to fix it, its that simple), and the first time I had anyone other than me or the dealer service it they screw it up. I wont ever bring it there again, from now on I wont be 'too busy.'
And usually I do the honda's oil change, in our parking lot we have a little drop off where the pavement ends, so I usually pull the car up to it and I can get under, but atm we have a trailer there. It is a great bonus being able to choose the oil and the components.
Anyways, the point of this thread was just to see if the oil will do any further damage, this weekend I'll be waxing the car so according to the responses I should be good. And like I said, never again will I enter a quick oil change/vavoline garage.
What a bunch of assholes. At my shop the nozzle is always in the tech's hands, the nozzle is never left unattended in the car. Valvoline is generally overpriced and shitty; go to Jiffy Lube instead. Jiffy Lube has giant windows where the customers can see the bays, so it's pretty much impossible to fuck up and get away with it. And no, me working at Jiffy Lube in no way influences what I'm saying :v:
Seriously though, it's a great place. At least mine is, we pretty much lick the shoes of customers

Also you should've told the cashier/manager, they could get in some shit for doing that and not cleaning it up, unless the manager was also a fuckhead

Oh, Valvoline has windows, the whole wall along the garage is glass. I always keep a close eye on what they are doing. I wasn't there, though, I had my brother take it in. He stepped away to get some food across the street, of course, but its excusable since he did this around lunch time, and the employees SHOULD be compitent enough to do a simple task as changing the oil. A task which a handful of girly "Do their nails and hair every hour" girls I know can do without mistake... If I saw them do it i'd burst through the door and tell them to give me my money back, and have the manager pay to get the car washed and waxed. Someones car is not something to mess with, its not a cheap object that can be simply half-assed and abused. Its offensive to think they could take my trust and abuse it to such a thing as valuable as someones car.
And if I'm ever in a situation where I cant change my oil I'll try and find a jiffy lube. Tell em' Glitch360 sent me. And they'll probably have not a clue or fuck to give about what I'm talking about ;-)
