• What do you think about Fluoride?

I have known for a while that the chemical fluoride has been added to the water supply all across America but is this actually safe? It's in your water, food and toothpaste and it can supposedly have negative effects on your health because it's actually poison. Read the label on your toothpaste it says not to ingest any of it. What is actually put into the water is called Sodium Fluoride which is a byproduct / industrial waste. Some people say it is put in because it strengthens your teeth and others says its a cheap way to get rid of waste. After typing sodium fluoride in Google I got this right away: http://www.jtbaker.com/msds/englishhtml/s3722.htm What do you think? Is it dangerous?
In the United Kingdom the Green Party refers to fluoride as a poison, claims that water fluoridation violates Article 35 of the European Charter of Fundamental Rights, is banned by the UK poisons act of 1972, violates Articles 3 and 8 of the Human Rights Act and raises issues under the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child.[14]

Water fluoridation is the controlled addition of fluoride to a public water supply to reduce tooth decay.

Fluoride accumulates in calcium rich tissues - not only the bones and teeth, but also the brain, heart and connective tissues. Furthermore, ingesting fluoride has been shown to increase the transport of heavy metals across the blood-brain and gut-blood barriers. According to studies totaling more than 400,000 children in three different states, the presence of the fluoride chemicals from the phosphate fertilizer industry in the drinking water results in a doubling of the incidence of the danger level of lead found in children's blood, which is correlated to increased learning disabilities, hyperactivity, crime and violence. And a highly significant animal study, which would commonly use dosages with 100 times the concentrations expected for humans, found an increased incidence of aluminum in the brain from fluoride exposures, at the same concentration as found in fluoridated drinking water, which resulted in kidney disease and lesions in the brain similar to those of humans with Alzheimer's disease.
I swallowed my toothpaste, now I have cancer.
It isn't safe, but that's why you don't EAT IT [editline]11:27PM[/editline] It even says not to on the back, god damn [editline]11:28PM[/editline] Oh fuck that'll teach me not to read a thread
Well it's certainly not safe to just go ingesting fluoride. What's in the tap water is hardly anything anyway.
fluoride makes my tummy hurt when i eat too much toothpaste
Alright, why is the fluoride in there? What is their reasoning? And when you say water supply do you mean before or after the intensive purification process?
Fluoride makes me sick, I have to tell the dentist not to clean my teeth with it. Even toothpaste makes me feel queasy.
There is so little fluoride in tap water that it worrying about it is like bitching about mercury in tuna. Just a bunch of fucktards overreacting about nothing.
I prefer to drink clean water with fluoride than clean water filled with, most-likely, deadly bacteria.
I thought the mercury in Tuna was actually a notable problem...
It is if you eat it every day.
It is if you eat it every day.
Oh, alright then

I buy my toothpaste at a health food store and I don't drink tap water, so it's not a concern. If it's a concern to anyone, the extent of its effects is clearly insignificant.
- Wikipedia
My mind has been blown
If I want fluoride, I'll brush my teeth. :colbert:
If I want fluoride, I'll brush my teeth. :colbert:
I'll eat toothpaste.
Tap water has Fluoride in such small amounts it doesn't really matter. Toothpaste is pretty much Fluoride, while tap water is still predominantly oxygen and hydrogen
It really helps prevent tooth decay, so that is why they put it in drinking water. Can you see the connection between this and it being in the toothpaste? Sure it might be poisonous if you ingest a lot of toothpaste, but so is most fish.
Yeah I didn't really like it either
Is this why there's a dental hygiene problem? Because everyone buys into the fact that it's poisonous if ingested?
If I want fluoride, I'll brush my teeth. :colbert:
but it tastes better with a glass of water.
Is this why there's a dental hygiene problem? Because everyone buys into the fact that it's poisonous if ingested?
There's a notable dental hygiene problem?
Is this why there's a dental hygiene problem? Because everyone buys into the fact that it's poisonous if ingested?
It is poisonous if ingested. (in large amounts)
There's a notable dental hygiene problem?
british teeth...
There's a notable dental hygiene problem?
I wouldn't say there is a notable problem with dental hygiene, but it does make a noticeable difference to dental health if a person grows up drinking fluoridated water.
There is so little fluoride in tap water that it worrying about it is like bitching about mercury in tuna. Just a bunch of fucktards overreacting about nothing.
No amount of mercury is gonna stop me from eating delicious tuna sandwiches!!!!!
Causes cancer, causes Alzheimer's, does a bunch of bad shit. But the real question here is what doesnt do that in todays world anyways?
Putting toothpaste on a desk fan gives amazing results.
Alright, why is the fluoride in there? What is their reasoning? And when you say water supply do you mean before or after the intensive purification process?
The reason why is because it helps prevent tooth decay. People who drink tap water generally have much fewer cavities. It's been pretty well known that since the popularity of bottled water in the past ten years, the number of cavities has skyrocketed. Mostly because people drink more bottled water than tap water now, most bottled water is not fluoridated and most tap water is. That's not to say that just drinking tap water will keep you from getting cavities, but it does help.
