Dates are set for 15th to 17th May. Predictions? Any other Facepunchers attending? Gonna post more stuff here during the event.
There should be something like "Google IO Europe", as most devs won't want to shell out almost a thousand dollars just to get there.

Looking forward to the Motorola X phone
every year the attendees get a shitload of google's latest stuff right ok not a shitload but if im not wrong last year's attendees walked away with a nexus 7 and more? Also how much are the tickets? (just curious)

Academic was sold out, so I only managed to get a GA ticket. People who go just for swag suck.

And not counting the invaluable experience and knowledge you gain at google I/O.
Give me a goddamn X-Phone!
can't wait to see nexus 7 2
Isn't there rumours of that Android 5.0 update? I don't think I'll be upgrading my nexus 7 anytime soon if there's a better one out, it does what i want it to do
I would go but then again, I'm no dev! (yet)

Nexus 7 with (micro) SD card slot and HDMI out plzz. I can even live with the kinda bad Tegra 3 chipset as long as it gets those two additions.

I'd love to see the consumer announcement for Glass...
What makes it "kinda bad"?
It's super outdated at this point And hey, if I can snag an Academic ticket, I might go. Google IO has always been one of my favorite tech conferences
It sold out within about 30 minutes. Tickets are non-transferrable. I managed to get an academic ticket last year, but they sold out too quick this year: had to buy a full price one.

[editline]29th March 2013[/editline] And it worked, I bought 200GB of storage

I'm pretty satisfied with Android at this point. If Key Lime Pie adds AVRCP 1.3 or higher, I'll switch to stock android.
I'd like to see a better way of handling background apps in Android. Like if you sign into skype, you get the horrible waste of space in the statusbar and notification dropdown.
I'd like to see a better way of handling background apps in Android. Like if you sign into skype, you get the horrible waste of space in the statusbar and notification dropdown.
The always-on notification is required by Android for programs running in the background AFAIK. You can disable it from showing up, but the problem is that it disables all notifications from that specific application, needs to spread to normal and background-service notifications.

Maybe like you have the quick-toggle panel, under that there is the things for background stuff. [editline]30th March 2013[/editline] Or maybe they could add their own squares, that would be cool.
They need to fix the clusterfuck that is the 4.2 widget lockscreen, let me disable that crap, its completely broken.
What? You can just pretend it's not there and completely forget it exists
What makes it "kinda bad"?
The GPU is atrocious and it has a very limited memory bandwidth, which is why when it's used in high res applications like 1920x1200 tablets you get a significant performance penalty compared to 1280x800. The SGX543MP2 that was in use a year earlier is twice as fast as the mobile GeForce chip. [editline]30th March 2013[/editline]
Nexus 7 with (micro) SD card slot and HDMI out plzz. I can even live with the kinda bad Tegra 3 chipset as long as it gets those two additions.
You definitely won't get the former, I'm sorry. The latter sort of comes down to costs. The Nexus 7 doesn't have MHL hardware because it added too much to the bill of materials, and with the Nexus 7's successor having impossible rumored specs(7" 1920x1080? Good luck making LTPS panels for a $200 tablet) to stay at $199, something like MHL or a mini HDMI port becomes even less likely.
new nexus 10 maybe?
new nexus 10 maybe?
It'd be nice considering how that Mali-T604 is meant for WVGA displays. The SGX544 used in Samsung's octa chip would be much better suited to fix the performance issues associated with insufficient GPU power on high resolution displays.
I'm curious. I'm considering going next year because I want a career focusing around computers and program development and i'm sure app development will be well within those bounds. I'm not sure where I'll be this time next year, but would I be considered a freeloader if I was on the academic ticket with genuine academic interest, but not actually having put anything on the market?
