While Apple will not begin accepting online orders until Wednesday, November 11, other retailers have already begun allowing customers to place orders for the iPad Pro. Sam's Club was the first to accept pre-orders but quickly sold out, while MacMall and Staples are still accepting orders. Ordering from one of these sites will not guarantee delivery later this week - MacMall doesn't expect orders to ship until November 16, while Staples lists a launch date of November 25. Apple's iPad Pro is its new flagship tablet with a 12.9-inch Retina display, a super powerful A9X processor, a four speaker audio system, 4GB RAM, and an 8-megapixel rear camera.
holy shit a whole 4 GB of ram? Seriously, I don't see how apple can make such minor upgrades to their products and sell it out like this
holy shit a whole 4 GB of ram? Seriously, I don't see how apple can make such minor upgrades to their products and sell it out like this
Well, for starters, it doesn't have OS X, only iOS, so that explains the paltry 4 GB.
holy shit a whole 4 GB of ram? Seriously, I don't see how apple can make such minor upgrades to their products and sell it out like this
You're not serious, I hope? The iPad Air 2, which is the current gen 9.7" iPad, has 2GB of RAM. 4GB is quite spacious for a mobile device and an OS that's fairly aggressive with its memory management.

So basically its like the surface RT but with an actual app store with apps
At the end of the day, it will never stand up against an x86 machine, not even a MacBook. I think apple would have been better off macing a touch screen macbook air
It has impressive specs but honestly Apple knows the iPad would sell like hotcakes if it included support for OSX programmes I know OSX isnt even optimised for touch but a Surface-like device would prove to be great competition for the Surface and probably eliminate the need for a standard MacBook
the ipad pro 128gb with pen and keyboard is more expensive than the surface pro 4 i5 with keyboard

The Surface line basically fills the need most people have for laptops, sans power, which even then, the higher end Surface models have that. iPad's were significantly less powerful than laptops, but had a bit of a cheaper price, to match. Now, it's going against the Surface, the tablet that can replace their laptop (so well that they marketed exactly that), but the iPad Pro can't. I'll be surprised if it does well. The only reason I'd buy one would be if I had an iPhone and Mac, so I have proper Apple ecosystem.
Holy shit the A9X is gorgeous
It has impressive specs but honestly Apple knows the iPad would sell like hotcakes if it included support for OSX programmes I know OSX isnt even optimised for touch but a Surface-like device would prove to be great competition for the Surface and probably eliminate the need for a standard MacBook
Yup, the argument of "Mac OS X isn't touch optimized!" is a load of shit. Windows, outside of Metro/Universal, also isn't as touch optimized as OS X, yet Surface Pros are selling like hotcakes anyway, especially with the Pro 3 and now the Pro 4.
pls keep your uninformed opinion to yourself till you've used both w/ a touchscreen
I've used Windows with a touchscreen, and while it isn't the best experience, it isn't bad. Apple would never let something like that ship on their devices, though. Windows 10 works reasonably well with a touchscreen, even the desktop mode. OS X's buttons and menus are tiny, though, and I can't imagine trying to work it with a finger.
Except on Windows, menu items and buttons are just as small with Win32 apps, which is probably a big reason for buying a Surface anyway, not Metro/Universal apps which enlarge them since they target touch devices, not "anything" like your traditional Win32 program.

In OS X, they're absolutely miniscule. Hard to hit with a mouse sometimes, let alone a finger.
Meanwhile the surface pro 4 is already a better choice

SP4 is on 16GB. 4GB is an absolute joke for a device like this.

At the end of the day, this is just an overpowered, overpriced mobile device.
Which one has the better pen for doodling? iPad Pro or Surface? (if there's any reviews of the iPad's pen yet)
Which one has the better pen for doodling? iPad Pro or Surface? (if there's any reviews of the iPad's pen yet)
if you absolutely need tilt detection then ipad pro, otherwise surface pro 4 (the ipad pencil doesn't have any buttons on it or an eraser on the other end)
if you absolutely need tilt detection then ipad pro, otherwise surface pro 4 (the ipad pencil doesn't have any buttons on it or an eraser on the other end)
Don't forget, though, Apple's iPad screens are fantastic, and I believe this one's pretty accurate. I'm not sure how good the Surface screens are, though.
Which one has the better pen for doodling? iPad Pro or Surface? (if there's any reviews of the iPad's pen yet)
The new Surface pen is comprable to the Apple Pencil. The Pro 3 pen was worse than either.
Don't forget, though, Apple's iPad screens are fantastic, and I believe this one's pretty accurate. I'm not sure how good the Surface screens are, though.
As with any device like this, the bigger you make it - the more fragile it becomes. MS have had a few years to perfect it with their surfaces so I don't know how the SP4 is, but if it's anything like the 3 it'll be fragile a/f. Comes with the territory.
Even with the "whopping" 4gb's, developers cant use all of it. About 1GB is reserved for apple stuff. That's when Jailbreaking comes in handy.
Surface Pro 3 was on 8GB and that's already 2 years old. SP4 is on 16GB. 4GB is an absolute joke for a device like this.
The Surfaces also have to run full Windows, and generally support much more advanced multitasking. Look, I'm not going to deny the iPad Pro is a weird ass product, given that I own a Surface and do have that bias. But Microsoft's taking shots at the mobile space with a full computer, and Apple's taking shots at the computer space with a tablet.
Don't forget, though, Apple's iPad screens are fantastic, and I believe this one's pretty accurate. I'm not sure how good the Surface screens are, though.
doesn't really matter when you can't draw in photoshop cc [editline]9th November 2015[/editline] you also can't change the pen tip type on the apple pencil
Which one has the better pen for doodling? iPad Pro or Surface? (if there's any reviews of the iPad's pen yet)
Almost definitely going to be surface. It's not easy to compare since appe aren't exactly listing the amount of pressure levels on the pen anywhere. Plus you can't run alchemy, photoshop and a slew of other things on the ipad so there's that.
Yup, the argument of "Mac OS X isn't touch optimized!" is a load of shit. Windows, outside of Metro/Universal, also isn't as touch optimized as OS X, yet Surface Pros are selling like hotcakes anyway, especially with the Pro 3 and now the Pro 4.
lmao what the ever living fuck is this "The OS isn't touch friendly, outside its touch friendly features" iOS, outside apps downloaded from the app store, has just as big of an app library as Windows. Why bother with iOS Surfaces sell because you can use a desktop mode when you need to, using it as a laptop. What point are you trying to make? Windows is touch optimized, because it has Universal apps. When you need the desktop environment, you use it as a laptop.
