While browsing the forums I noticed a lot of you guys have RAM heat spreaders (probably there by default, not 3rd party), are those things really worth it? I may be getting a 4gb PNY DDR2 kit soon that has them for $70 , or I can try and find another 2gb DDR2 Kingston stick that doesn't have one that is around $55 (same price that I bought the single ram stick I have now). the single ram stick I have right now is kind of weird since it's 1/2 the height of a normal stick of ram and a 3rd party heat spreader won't fit on it. stupid question I know, but I had to ask.
Not worth an extra $15
Heat spreaders are not required unless the RAM is being overclocked enough to require extra voltage. The half height RAM sticks are generally terrible for overclocking, but will run at stock fine.
ok. I don't plan on overclocking my ram so I'll just search for a ram stick like the one I already have. why are half height ram sticks even made? they seem pointless. I didn't know they made half height ram sticks until I open the computer my friend gave to me to fix up and keep.
can I get any more opinions on this? my current ram, just need a similar stick to be in stock(they have wrong picture, it's actually 1/2 the height of a normal stick of ram): http://www.frys.com/product/5622651?site=sr:SEARCH:MAIN_RSLT_PG the PNY 4gb kit: http://www.frys.com/product/5939834?site=sr:SEARCH:MAIN_RSLT_PG
That looks pretty expensive for a 2GB stick of RAM. Sure you can't find a better deal on newegg?
I can't order from newegg because no matter what I do they denyy credit card, I tried getting a new one and that still didn't work. newegg hates me.

well, I found the same stick of Kingston ram on NewEgg and it's $8 less with free shipping. but I rather have it today or tomorrow than waiting for it come by mail.
