• [WIP] Alien planet, Need C&C, opinions on different versions.

Ok, so I started this last week, I've put a few hours into it so far and want to know what I could edit, improve, change, ect, before I move on to the final details. So, there are two versions I've done so far. Without "Atmosphere" (Red lines are what need doing) With "Atmosphere" I know a few things I want to do are: -Detail the two smaller moons more -Re-do the galaxy. It's too bright, dense. -A large city in the crevice, with a bridge leading up to the building. Example -A lone caravan in the valley between the mountains. -Add texture too the canyon walls, shading to bring out rock-y shape more. Basically what I want to know is what could be better, what looks wrong, and any ideas you think would look interesting. I'm pretty happy with it so far, since it's only really my second full tablet drawing. What do you guys think? Honesty is appreciated. Edit Update
I like it! I would like to see some more difference in values in the rock, and possibly some life forms? i like the sky in the first one more, it looks better black.
I think the pink throws it off a little. You should some how fade the smaller planets too. Other then that, it looks great
Idunno, cool idea but it looks tad boring. The space especially. Maybe add some more colours to the galactica and do some space clouds and such? I'd say the perspective on that building needs to be checked over again. Desert looks lovely, but the shading under that cliff should be done with brushes instead of gradients. I'd like to see this finished someday.
Is that a galaxy in orbit? Boy, you shoulds have paid attention in physics classes. Anyway nice work!

Update. I think much improvement has been attained:
Much better
Woah - that's amazing.
Much better. Work on that galaxy more. Make it more fog- like. Just to give you an idea how it usually looks. The big planet looks really nice, now you need to work on those things: the big planets' moon and the moons' moon. The shadow near the building.

I tried using a reference picture but I couldn't really get a good cloudy foggy feel that I liked, so I just did a star. Thanks for the comments guys!
Create custom brush or something. Take a black document and start experimenting on it. Put a very low flow and start building the clouds somehow. If you use analogy you might find this one useful. http://shadowumbre.deviantart.com/art/Clouds-tutorial-41272212
The purple and blue planet stand out too much
The purple and blue planet stand out too much
Yea, I decided against it too. Is the update better?
Yea, I decided against it too. Is the update better?
oh i'm sorry my typo created confusion, i meant to say.. The purple and blue planets (the two smaller ones) stand out too much, in the latest update.
The update is really good, don't care much for the others.
oh i'm sorry my typo created confusion, i meant to say.. The purple and blue planets (the two smaller ones) stand out too much, in the latest update.
Ahh, I see what you mean. I thought they added a nice element of color (without being too obnoxious like the planet) but I'll see how they look in different shades the next time I work on it. I just don't want my color pallet to be too constrained.
I tought they were WIP so I dind't mention them. They're just too defined, just a coloured blob and it's shadow. Make it more like a planet.
The planet where the city is, it's way too bright, you can see so very clearly the universe, which means they cast a very strong light, which means all you see is mostly a silhouette of your own planet: those examples are with a moon but you get the point.
This painting is awesome now, I din't like it before because the style was so inconsistent, but now it's awesome.

Any tutorials or tips?
