I'll admit that this is stolen straight off reddit, but I thought it was a really interesting and thought provoking (even if satirical) piece.
As a practicing jew, I believe that my fundamental right to freedom of religious expression is being violated. Right now, you can apply for a restaurant license and sell pork and shellfish in an eating establishment. Look, I'm not trying to force my beliefs on anyone. If they want to sin in the privacy of their own home, they're welcome to, but the state should not be giving them a license to serve non-kosher items. My kids shouldn't have to walk through the city and see establishments that promote the eating of unclean animals. The schools shouldn't be teaching my kids that it's "okay" to eat like a gentile. And what's more, this is a slippery slope. If restaurants can be allowed to serve unclean food, it's only a matter of time until known poisons are allowed. This is a fundamental question of our nation's judeo-christian values. As Americans, I urge you to support a constitutional amendment that defines a restaurant as a kosher establishment.
Food for thought.
Oh boy here we go
Well if you don't want a certain food, don't get a certain food.
Its America.
Fuck off religion.
Seems like satire to me about how a certain other religion(s) bitch about thing's not being to their likings.
One minute we're serving pork in restaurants the next it's the holocaust all over again
Pigs are fucking clean animals. I had this conversation with a jew. Guess what? He eats pork.
that's some bad satire
I wonder how long it will be before someone actually gets the point.
Fuck off religion.
Fitting avatar. :v:
I wonder how long it will be before someone actually gets the point.
We did get the point. And you get a clock
I wonder how long it will be before someone actually gets the point.
it's hard to not get the point and the point is dumb
-snip-
This is a joke, right? ...I mean nobody is this stupid, surely. How is this interesting?
This is a joke, right? ...I mean nobody is this stupid, surely. How is this interesting?
It's an analogy for gay marriage.
I like meat.
If you get offended by a foreign country rules and religion, then feel free to leave again? Or just don't look at the shops/restaurants. And I lol'd at the first comment on that page:
If we are allowed to eat pork, it's only a matter of time before we'll be allowed to eat children and family members.
Because it's not like there isn't an already large hate-group for the jews. They really should prioritize.
Sometimes Facepunch is retarded and doesn't discuss the point that is being made, but the details around it that are of no relevance.
Sometimes Facepunch is retarded and doesn't discuss the point that is being made, but the details around it that are of no relevance.
I suspect none of them are bright enough to realise the underlying point being made so instead they try and act smart and pick apart what they think it's saying
I'm a Jew, too. I eat pork. Seriously, some of us just don't really get what freedom of religion means these days. Most do, but some like this guy don't. Also who keeps kosher outside of Israel?
You guys realize that this is obviously satire, right?
It's not "food for thought", it's dumb bullshit, if we need anything, it's LESS religious legislations. I'd rather have "poisons" in my food, rather than a second Israel :colbert:.

It's been said it's satire in every fourth post on this thread, it's mocking the way christians and catholics attack gay/civil rights members. It parodies all the arguments used by religious groups in the paragraph as well

If you watch a parody of Adolf Hitler, it's still Adolf Hitler...
Hardly changes that it's dumb bullshit, now does it? If you watch a parody of Adolf Hitler, it's still Adolf Hitler...
You seem to miss the point of satire. Doing the exact same thing as the thing you're criticizing, but in a way that nobody can take you, or by extension, the idea you're mocking, seriously. Since you already Godwin'ed, I'll point to the Mel Brooks Hitler parody. It's exactly the kinds of things Hitler actually said and did, just done as a rap video. And it's freaking hilarious.
mmmm bacon. Jews don't know what they're missing out on.
Hardly changes that it's dumb bullshit, now does it? If you watch a parody of Adolf Hitler, it's still Adolf Hitler...
you don't get satire at all
Hardly changes that it's dumb bullshit, now does it? If you watch a parody of Adolf Hitler, it's still Adolf Hitler...
Any humour more complicated than sarcasm just bewilders you doesn't it?
