you're only paying 58$ usd, what's your problem?
you're only paying 58$ usd, what's your problem?
It's too much money.
I think I'll pass, I have huge reservations about whether you can really bring DOOM into 2016 without losing something that made the original great.
The multiplayer is pretty not good. I didn't get to play the singleplayer, but from what they showed at E3 and such I'm not impressed.
Basically nah don't preorder.
Oh so the title is just "DOOM"? Sheesh.
you're only paying 58$ usd, what's your problem?
because it's still 80$ here. I don't live in the US genius....

Well the alternative was the good ole 1USD = 1GBP = 1EUR system with australian prices artificially inflated anyway.
So its either screw over one half of the globe and australia or screw over the other half and australia.
Oh so the title is just "DOOM"? Sheesh.
Part 4, four letters. It makes sense in some way.

Should have been DfOurOM

Where have you been the last 2 years lol
No thanks, not for that pricetag

Look on the bright side, you're saving money. If steam had not switched to $Canadian you would be paying 80.16
You're saving a whole 16c :v:
You can also wait for GreenManGaming to sell it for 20-25% off with a coupon or VIP deal.

Or kinguin, although I'm not sure if that's considered piracy or not on Facepunch.
Why would it be piracy?
Why would it be piracy?
I do believe the way they obtain CD keys aren't exactly legit or something along those lines.
When Kinguin and one of their key providers, Gamefactory, fucked up my key for MGSV and I had to go through hoops to get a refund, I just took my business to GreenManGaming instead. If my computer could handle DOOM (it certainly doesn't appreciate the alpha, although that might also be partly due to the game being WIP and the servers just as well) and it doesn't utterly bomb i'll probably see to giving it a shot next year.
Should have been DfOurOM
or DOOOOM
So doom 5 is DOOOOOM
I played the closed alpha and it's pretty good I'd say. Well worth the price imho.
The MP part of it just felt like a UT clone with a Doom paint job.

Yep, normal overpriced AAA game.

Well, that's kind of why we have exchange rates...
It doesn't matter what your currency's buying power is, you always pay full price in currency of origin for import products.
Game prices don't change to reflect the purchasing power of a currency, they change to reflect the purchasing power of the people. That's why countries like Russia get cheaper games, the amount of money people have is lower. Canada's GDP per-capita is nearly the same as the US's GDP per capita, so you pay a slightly adjusted price ($58 to our $60). I don't understand why you people feel like you should be able to get new games for $45 USD when we pay $60, even though the average incomes in both of our countries are nearly the same.
If you want more numbers, the average salary in Canada is $49,000 USD to our $50,000 USD, and your bottom tax bracket extends to $49,500 compared to our $34,000, meaning you pay 15% until $49,500 USD and we pay 15% at $8,500 and 25% at $34,000. (Which means your lower tax brackets are better than ours!)
There's also the matter of VAT (Sales Tax), which varies in different regions and is attached to Steam's sticker price, the cost to get a game certified in a certain region (PEGI, ESRB, etc), and the publisher's own metrics and market research. If you want to read more about how game prices vary by region, PCGamer did a write-up on it.
Yes, it's a larger number, but it is exactly equivalent to what we're paying, adjusted for every metric.

Adjusted for currency value, $66 USD, but your GDP per capita is significantly lower. New Zealand has its own ratings board, and it's more expensive to get a game certified for sale, which explains the increase.
