The Ukip leader made the comments when asked about a policy on the party’s website saying immigrants and their dependents would need private education for five years after entering the UK. Farage said it was a “difficult” issue and that it was not a manifesto pledge. But he said his personal view was that immigrants would only bring their dependents after a period of time and after that he would not envisage their children being allowed to go straight into state schools. The What We Stand For section of Ukip’s website says: “Immigrants must financially support themselves and their dependents for five years. This means private health insurance (except emergency medical care), education and housing – they should pay into the pot before they take out of it.”
Are working, tax paying immigrants (the vast vast majority of immigrants) exempt from this? Doesn't sound like it. So they can be contributing to these public services but not able to actually use them, unless they've been here for a totally arbitrary amount of time.
Farage fails to realise yet again that private education is a premium, and having kids change from the education system in their home country -> private UK education -> state UK education would be utterly ridiculous. Does he not know how much money private ed costs in this country? Then again, I suppose that's his point. Why have any immigrants come in unless they're stinking rich?
So his party dislikes the fact that immigrants aren't integrating so what does he do? He wants to bar the children of immigrants from state schools therefore preventing them from integrating. :downs:
may god help us if the UKIP starts exporting this over here, the tea party (our independance party) isn't even quite as crazy (they just want to export all immigrants, legal or not)

If UKIP actually gets in government I hope someone runs Nigel Farrage down in a car or something.
They'd have to be one rich immigrant to send their kids to private school, my school wasn't too expensive but you can't expect all immigrants to arrive with the bank accounts nicely filled up. Nigel can be a bit of a nutter
Children shouldn't be suffering because of their parents.
1. Get rid of immigrants education 2. Uneducated immigrants then forced into crime from lack of work 3. Call all immigrants criminals 4. Deport them
1. Get rid of immigrants education 2. Uneducated immigrants then forced into crime from lack of work 3. Call all immigrants criminals 4. Deport them
Mate, it's the UK, skip to step 3.
How far back are we going here? Are descendants of recent migrants getting suspended or are we going all the way back to the Roman invaders?
So, what does he imagine schoolchildren of immigrants should do for 5 years then. I'm going to go out on a limb and say work is a no go, as is probably private schools. So homeschooling (dunno if legal in UK), which would stop the child from integrating, and the parent from working and probably integrating as well Then again, considering some of the other crap coming out of Farage, i imagine he had an idea that would sound good as a soundbite and went from there
What does he expect to achieve with that. If the kid cannot go to school it might stay during those five years at home since it is one of the few places were it can be overlooked ( And to do that one of the parents would need to stay, thus possibly cutting another work income ). If both the kids and one guardian stay and don't socialize much it could lead to immigrants that have spent five years in the country yet know nothing about it, not even the language. Sounds crazy but it is plausible, some old people when moving to the States live surrounding by peers of his native country and since they are old and can talk with people in its own language they never learn English at all. It is somewhat understandable with the Elders...but having that with a kid would be terrible. Specially because the first years are the ones when your brain is a total data sponge and learning its most efficient.
