Sending out batches of emails to multiple recipients, either to their employees, or newsletters to their customers.

Think of one instance, that instance being World of Warcraft. They have over 10 million subscribers, so if they send out a promotional email to only WoW members, that is 10 million emails. Now take into account how many forums are out there... Some forums send out birthday emails for their users and almost all forums allow a way to reset a password. Then you have all the emails going through corporations and businesses. Emails through the government. Emails AROUND THE WORLD. Then you have spammers who pull email addresses from random places on the web and send emails out to them... I wouldn't be surprised if 90% of the emails sent in a minute were from spam emails.
