Well, it's in the Rumor Mill that a film may be in the works, possibly starring Brad Pitt. So, I got to thinking, who'd you like to see in it? Yes you, the user entering my humble thread, accidentally clicking on mine when they meant to click on the one below. Anywho, this is just an opinionated thing, so let's not start a flame war or a hate train. So, here's my list: John Marston- Johnny Depp Leigh Johnson- Gary Sinise Landon Ricketts- Tommy Lee Jones Dutch van der Linde- Brad Pitt Those are all the people I can really see playing those characters. Sad, I know. So, who else do you think is good for the film/TV show?
Jack Black.
Johnny Depp's voice just would not work with John Marshton. I can picture him doing Jack Marshton though.
Clint Eastwood, I don't care how old he is.
Jeff Bridges should play Landon Ricketts
Josh Brolin for something (most likely John Marshton) and the Coen Bros. for directing or writing they know how to do Westerns
nah. RDR was heavily inspired by classic western flicks so you might as well just watch those.
I prefer Josh Brolin as Marston.
nah. RDR was heavily inspired by classic western flicks so you might as well just watch those.
In the meantime, this one has a point.
Yeah. A real great 3 hour western. I mean really great. With Adam Sandler as Irish.
Clint Eastwood doing a cameo.
John Lithgow as the raging psychopath, would be in my top 5. [editline]3rd March 2011[/editline] [img_thumb]http://www.imfdb.org/images/thumb/3/35/Ricochet3008.jpg/600px-Ricochet3008.jpg[/img_thumb]
Brad Pitt would actually do a good John Marston, I think.
Not Tom Hanks, but it would be cool to see him in western movie:smile:

Jeffrey Dean Morgan or William Hurt as Dutch
How about fuck off the big time names and just get some very talented lesser known actors who usually deliver less jaded performances anyway? HBO Red dead redemption series yes please.
How about fuck off the big time names and just get some very talented lesser known actors who usually deliver less jaded performances anyway? Christopher Nolan and Spielberg are two they don't touch because they know their name alone will rake in cash. For instance, a studio would probably want a big name star to get more cash. This puts all fingers to that cluster fuck of cool kids: Matt Damon, George Clooney, Brad Pitt, etc. whom are in just about every movie made nowadays. I agree that it would be nice to get a good lesser-known actor but for something like Red Dead Redemption I don't see studios doing that, really. That's just my perspective though. Not that accounts for anything.
I always thought Sam Elliot would have made a perfect Landon Rickets. He already has the mustache. I'd love a RDR movie if it was in the right hands but the odds of that happening are next to nothing so fuck it.
Jeffrey Dean Morgan or William Hurt as Dutch
Jeffery Dean Morgan would be my vote.
Dane Cook as John obviously
Thanks, Dean.

That dude's perfect for Landon.
Steve Buscemi as Seth for sure:
Yes, he would be perfect. Jeff Bridges as the Marshall.
Martson:
Robert Duvall as Landon Ricketts or Leigh Johnson in my opinion. [img_thumb]http://www.aceshowbiz.com/images/still/open_range_06.jpg[/img_thumb] I don't know who should play Marston, Rob Wiethoff did John's voice but he does not look like him at all. Jeffrey Dean Morgan as Marston. Might be a tad old though.
Am I the only one who thinks this would work better as a HBO miniseries production, rather than a feature film that will inevitably get fucked over by hollywood hacks?
No. I think that's where most adaptations go wrong. Films restrict with time, while a miniseries has plenty of time to include all the details and characters. [editline]5th March 2011[/editline] But a good adaptation would have to come from HBO, Showtime, or AMC.
