Two hundred people have been injured as more than 100 vehicles were involved in a series of crashes in thick fog on the A249 Sheppey crossing in Kent.
Six of those hurt in the collisions, at about 07:15 BST, are thought to have serious injuries.
Early reports suggested up to 40 vehicles were involved, but police later said more than 100 had crashed.
Firefighters said they had freed five people from their vehicles on the southbound carriageway.
About 200 people have minor injuries

It's actually 100 car crash, with 200 injuries.
but still jesus, I wonder how long it lasted
Damn, I expect a few deaths in that with so many injured
Damn, how bad was that fog? Any pictures with visibility references? I'm amazed there's not a single death though.

Yeah no fuck that. I would never ever get on the road with that fog. Visibility only extends roughly 20 meters from the look of that.

Only six people severely injured according to the article, quite lucky.
"One witness said visibility was very poor but drivers were approaching the crossing with no lights."
Well great.
Pea Souper, ey..?
This is pretty much a lose-lose situation for driving in, even if you're driving very carefully yourself, some guy behind you going very fast is going to smash into your ass.
You would be shot in the head over here if you didn't turn your lights on in those conditions.
Or you would if we had guns at least.
The fog makes it look like some ethereal dimension of endless crashed cars.

This is britain mind you, we have literally no idea how to deal with any weather conditions that aren't 'mildly overcast'.
The fog was really was thick, Really scary on the bus i got on.
I actually have a picture of fog just as thick close by actually, this was taken the other night mind but still:

I took the photo with the flash on so you can see that 'blur'. It's actually the vapor from the fog rushing into my bedroom through the window, in person you could see the fine mist through lights.
Title is wrong, it's not 200 cars crash. It's 130. 200 people were at the scene though.
Edit: Shit incredibly late on that.
The fog's makes it feel like goddamn Persona 4
Silent Hill Style Fog.
The fog's makes it feel like goddamn Persona 4
But the fog is a greenish yellow (unless you're talking about the Anime's fog).
Add some more grain to the photos and you've got Silent Hill.
It's great how nobody died. Hooray for modern car safety
I can see the Isle of Sheppey from my house, I live across the water from it. The main reason for the crash was that nobody had their lights on, and they were all bunched up. I know people in Sheppey are generally considered retarded but come on, this is just common sense.
Unrelated:
The sun tends to set over Sheppey if you're on the beach where I live, so there's regularly people cheering about it being "nuked"

Are you fucking kidding?! I come from the UK and Australia has on average the worst drivers I've EVER encountered in my entire life! People ROUTINELY fly across three lanes on the highway to go from the inside lane to an off ramp. They don't even use their bloody indicators (not that it'd actually fucking impact the relative safety of such a suicidally stupid move in the first place, but still). Drivers here are atrocious.

Not really, we get a shit load of fog, especially down here in the south. This really is is a case of fucking idiots driving like idiots and here in Britan there's just too fucking many of them. I luckily managed to avoid the pile up by 20 mins or so when i drove back to 'civilization' from the shithole that is Sittingborne. It was thick fog no doubt about it but if you drive sensibly there's no problem, i got over just fine but a lot slower than normal.
But as i said, it's the fucking cocksure idiots on the road that cause this shit, always wanting to get somewhere as fast as they can and think they are untouchable.
It was like silent hill this morning, cold. Then the sun came out and now its bloody hot.
This is britain mind you, we have literally no idea how to deal with any weather conditions that aren't 'mildly overcast'.
Yeah it upsets me just how fucking bad some people are at driving in this country. Even simple things like indicating at roundabouts people seem to just forget the second they pass their test.
If you can't see very far, you slow the fuck down and turn as many lights on as possible, how hard is that. WHO DRIVES IN FOG WITH NO LIGHTS ON!?
I don't even feel safe walking in that kind of fog, let alone drive.
WHO DRIVES IN FOG WITH NO LIGHTS ON!?
Fucking everyone, at least round where I live, it's like everyone thinks that because it's daytime you can be seen all the time with no lights even if it's 0% visibility fog.
It's no surprise this happened.

This is why in Canada we have a law that requires all cars to have Running Lights.
