• Solar eclipse to plunge UK and Europe into darkness
Millions of people could witness the best solar eclipse in years seen from the UK and northern Europe later. A path across the Earth's surface will be plunged into darkness as the Moon covers up the Sun. The event's geometry means that in the UK the Sun will be between 83% and 98% covered, from about 09:23 GMT onwards. The weather will determine visibility. Experts are warning people not to look directly at the Sun because it could cause serious harm. The deep shadow forms first in the North Atlantic, before sweeping up into the Arctic Circle and ending at the North Pole. The UK will not see a solar eclipse on this scale again until 2026, but the British forecast is not particularly encouraging. Nonetheless, all parts of the UK are in line to see at least 83% of the Sun's disc obscured by the Moon.
http://www.bbc.com/news/science-environment-31965456

In related news, in Europe it's too fucking cloudy and misty to see anything anyway.
No cloud in the sky here. I wonder how it will look. I missed the last few because of clouds and traveling.
UK is of course cloudy with blue spots here and there, hopefully it'll clear up in the next two hours.
Completely cloudy here. :(
Fuck its cloudy here too, I've never seen a solar eclipse before :(
Have double physics and we were all going to go out and observe it. Grey cloud as far as I can see. Fuck. :v:
Plunged into darkness? You mean tony Blair didn't make it dark enough?
Clear sky here, bring it on.
Thick fog in the Netherlands.
Smoggy here but I'm hype
Its's happening here in about 30 minutes!
It's nearly night here....then again I don't think Australia is going to get it considering it's not part of Europe.
I feel for some of you, it's nice and sunny here, just a little mist that should burn off within an hour. You never know though with the weather, it may be cloudy as fuck when the eclipse actually gets here.
Oh man, the sky looks rather clear here Nottingham. Last time I saw an eclipse was when I was 4-5. This is exciting!
Dundee here, everythings nice and clear.
Glorious day in the north of Scotland, I've been up all night since I drank a little too much coffee and had a little too much work on my mind, but fuck it, been well over a decade since the last one I saw.
I'm just going to be looking at it through my iPod camera :v:
Pretty sure camera sensors can be damaged by that as well, not sure though
Sky has been clear all week, and then the day finally comes, and it's foggy as shit :suicide:
