• Critique on my Workstation build - (900$-1.000$ budget)

It's time to throw out my 7 year old computer and replace it with something newer (finally), so I've compiled a list of components that I would like to have in my new computer which will be used mostly for graphic design, video editing and some gaming on the side. I'm ready to buy these components but I would just like a second opinion on them and possibly hear some improvements, while keeping in mind the 900$-1.000$ budget (700-800€). Mainboard: - S-AM3+ GIGABYTE GA-990XA-UD3, ATX (102.90€) Processor: - AMD FX-8350 Black Edition, 4,00GHz, 8-Core, S-AM3+ (183.90€) RAM: - DDR3-RAM KIT 8 GB, 1600 MHz, CL9, CORSAIR Vengeance (72.90€) Graphic card: - PCI-E 3.0 SAPPHIRE Radeon HD 7870 GHz Edition OC, Lite retail, 2048MB (227.90€) Hard Drive: - WD WD20EZRX 2TB 64M/S600 GreenPower (65.71€) DVD: - DVD/RW Samsung SATA SH-224BB/BEBE bulk (17.52€) Case: - THERMALTAKE V3 Black Edition (40.90€) Power supply: - Silentpower LC6650GP3-650W V2.3 (64.66€) Total: 773.01€ (1.011$)
If you're going to spend that much, get a Haswell Intel build. Also, get a different HDD, the Green series of drives are slow. That PSU is also sketchy. Go with Thermaltake, Antec or Silverstone
Go for an i7 4770k for video editing and graphic design. If you could spend a little more, you could get the new Nvidia 770.

That being said, I think the motherboard on that build could be downgraded to an H87/77 (the CPU is locked multiplier anyway so you'd have wasted motherboard features with Z87), and the budget could probably only go a tiny bit over. But with an i7-4770k and an appropriately overclocking motherboard, it would probably end up a lot more over budget (if you went with my previous build and just replaced the processor it would be 1179.92 but its a 1 TB HDD). Still if the budget can be stretched that far, it would certainly be a worthy computer, and 1179.92 isn't too bad. Also if you can do with a 1 TB hard drive (and have the potential to upgrade later), I would advise that.
If you want to use it as a workstation, being able to overclock a bit is usefull. I would reccomend the i5-4670k or i7-4770k.
