Why should that matter?
Gemma Laird claims that school bosses told her they didn't want students "thinking it is acceptable to be a model".
 I'm getting mixed signals from this one.
Why should that matter?

Think of the children!

Gemma Laird claims that school bosses told her they didn't want students "thinking it is acceptable to be a model".
Wow. If this is true, what an asshole thing to say.

Is there any labor protection law on protecting someone from being fired like this in the UK? Or is it that schools are basically dictatorships where they abide to different rules much like in the US.
Damn, the UK's education system is fucked up too huh
Because they don't want kids thinking it's acceptable to be a model? The fuck is wrong with being a model? It's a perfectly acceptable job that people should strive to have. No, I get the feeling this is just because teachers are not allowed to have anything even resembling a sexual life that might have ever been available publicly for no good reason. We have to keep up the facade that nobody has sex!
Damn, the UK's education system is fucked up too huh
It's called the "nanny state" for a reason

Did the parents think she was gonna put on a fashion show for the kids?
my hs physics teacher was an underwear model he was jacked and wore tight button up shirts every day. you could practically cut through the teenage hormones in the room with a knife
Is there any labor protection law on protecting someone from being fired like this in the UK?
SOURCE
got any other source? I'm pretty sure the mirror is a tabloid
https://www.gov.uk/dismissal/overview she has due cause to sue the school, actually.
Good. It's stupid how her personal life outside of school affected her employment status when she hadn't even done anything illegal.

Had one teacher in Ohio get fired for shit like this, another for being a camgirl.

i hope this leads her to find a bunch of modelling work and make a ton of money making money to spite someone is the best
Not too hard as many schools have "morality clauses" bin their contracts. Had one teacher in Ohio get fired for shit like this, another for being a camgirl.
there's a bit of a difference between being a camgirl and being a legitimate model though
there's a bit of a difference between being a camgirl and being a legitimate model though
Only one was. What my point was is that many schools have those clauses and can easily fire a teacher for violating it.
That school is fucked: this is a perfect case for unfair dismissal.
Why am I suddenly thinking of the Nintendo case from like last week
I remember back in high school a student found porn of my old english teacher. her porn name is "amber blossom". you don't want to see it unless you're into 50 year old bodybuilders. she was asked to step down for it, which is basically "we can't fire you but you gotta get your gaped ass out of this school"
I really don't see why this is a big deal. She's a model and a teacher. So what?
I feel like someday nobody is going to give a fuck what a teacher does in their offtime (besides anything sexual with a student, that's always going to be forbiden) That will be an interesting time to be a highschooler
This is as textbook a case of unfair dismissal that i've seen. She was apparently doing a good job teaching for the short time she was there even.
Whatever, this teacher has bright future just because of those pictures.
Gemma Laird claims that school bosses told her they didn't want students "thinking it is acceptable to be a model".
Yes, how dare attractive women use their looks for good. Truly this is great evil.
I hate seeing shit like this. Its like you got to act like you are walking on eggshells when working at a damn school.
