The actual file format used, however, proved to be a mystery requiring reverse-engineering in order to reveal the images.
I don't understand how they couldn't have any record of this
I don't wanna start a huge debate on art subjectivity but that looks like something Andy would do while dicking around in his computer trying to figure out how shit work :v:
- snip, missed the other two -

I had to look up who this guy is. Apparently some feminist shot him in the 60s.
You forgot the other two:
I had to look up who this guy is. Apparently some feminist shot him in the 60s.
You don't know who Andy Warhol is?
I had to look up who this guy is. Apparently some feminist shot him in the 60s.
What?
I had to look up who this guy is. Apparently some feminist shot him in the 60s.
Even if you don't know the guy (quite strange) you've probably seen his work before
I don't understand how they couldn't have any record of this
Because it's all just 1 and 0s on a disk. The format is over 30 years old and Amiga's stopped being sold altogether almost 20 years ago. Not to mention it was just a small group of guys working on this for the last year, It's not like it was some massive research project that stumped leading scientists for decades.
You don't know who Andy Warhol is?
what did you expect? lots of users on this forum don't know art, like, at all. [editline]24th April 2014[/editline]
What?
Valerie Solanas shot him in the 60's, but he survived and lived up until 87 I think. The shooting had a pretty dramatic effect on his life, tho, pretty sure he had to wear a surgical corset up until his death.
I had to look up who this guy is. Apparently some feminist shot him in the 60s.
He's that bloke what painted soup cans and Marilyn Monroe or something. I don't know how anyone can say they've never heard of him, I always figured he was pretty big in the art world.
I remember that one piece about the 100 Campbell soup cans, but fuck all else about his art.
I just remember seeing the cans piece and confirming for myself art is too strange for me to give a heck about otherwise I have no reason to know the looney
My favorite thing about Andy Warhol is that he was openly gay but a closeted devout Christian also he has a penis drawing on the moon
what did you expect? lots of users on this forum don't know art, like, at all.
Yeah, but fucking everyone and their dog knows who andy worhol is. Even if I didn't have the parents that I did, I learnt about him in school
I don't understand how they couldn't have any record of this
Assuming that format was some long dead proprietary format, I could actually probably see it.
My favorite thing about Andy Warhol is that he was openly gay but a closeted devout Christian also he has a penis drawing on the moon
Reminds me of
How 90% of facepunch may know andy warhol
Fun fact: Andy Warhol ALWAYS wore green underwear. Always green.
My favorite thing about Andy Warhol is that he was openly gay but a closeted devout Christian also he has a penis drawing on the moon
at least post the drawing too, it's pretty awesome
at least post the drawing too, it's pretty awesome
I like to leave it to the imagination Andy Warhol's moon penis
at least post the drawing too, it's pretty awesome
My mind trying to find a meaning for this: Seriously, I find it hard to understand this piece of art in particular, for some reason. Probably because I have no idea of what to compare it to as a frame of reference.

That Valerie Solanas lady was way crazy. She founded a group called SCUM (Society for Cutting Up Men). Can't get more misandrist than that.
it's not like people don't still have amigas. they have one of the most dedicated followings of any old computer, the amiga 500 in particular had an enormous cult following
I don't know the exact details, but apparently the computer he used was an Amiga 1000, maybe he saved it in some strange Amiga 1000 only format? Considering there isn't more information on it, it's only speculation from here. Considering it's almost 30 years old, and only 700,000 were sold in North America, maybe it was difficult to find a working one?
