A dude pulling out a fake handgun with no intention to hurt anybody dying isn't a good thing, regardless if he tried to rob a store. He definitely deserved some sort of punishment, but wishing death upon him is going a little too far. RIP.

As well, he wasn't technically armed. Criminals use fake weaponry because it gives them control during the robbery, but if they're caught they can't be charged with armed robbery.

That's generally why a lot of criminals use fake guns, lessens the inevitable legal punishment.

You actually need a license to own deactivated firearms thesedays, which is kind of a pity, as there were some really nice deactivated guns at The War and Peace Revival a few months back. If you're caught trying to rob someone with an imitation firearm, it's still a (rightfully) harsh punishment afaik. Funny thing is that it's probably easier to get a shotgun license than a deactivated firearm of any sort, but y'know...
