Building my first Custom Rig, come on in and help an amateur.

Facepunch Users, I'm looking to build my first Custom Rig (Always relied on Pre-Built Junk Before).
I'm pretty flexible where I'm purchasing from, but please mention where you recommend. My buddy got most of his pieces off of Newegg, but I know there are many online sites.
I only have a few ideas on where to get started.
* $800-$1000 (USD) Price Range
* Windows 7 (32 or 64 Bit, whatever you recommend)
* I'm more of a Nvidia Guy (but I'm not against ATI if you feel a certain card is the best)
I don't know a lot of the specifics about computers, but I do know several people who can help me put it all together. So feel free to suggest what motherboard, processor, ram, PSU, etc that I should purchase.
If you need or want to ask any questions to me, you can PM me. I don't plan on purchasing this RIG for at least a week or two, but before the end of the year for sure. Links to the parts would be greatly appreciated.
Can you re-use your hard drive, case, or optical drive?
Nope. The old rig is being donated/given to a family member as it is.
wait until a day before you buy it

new combos will come out, combos now won't exist then
Do you need a monitor?

Mouse, speakers, keyboard?

If you're a student you can get Windows 7 for $30.
Mouse and Keyboard I can wait awhile on upgrading.
I will need a monitor, but it doesn't factor into the price range I mentioned.
I'm willing to spend anywhere from $100 USD to $200, I don't need any fancy 120 Hertz, since I doubt that is out of my price range for a monitor.

A week or two prior to purchase isn't a bad time to plan a rig. He can always make another thread for final changes.

2048 x 1152 on 23 inches? I would only use that on ATLEAST 24" at minimum.

Bear in mind you can only purchase the Update version.
Which is easy to clean install. A little registrying does the trick.
