As a KW citizen, I really hope this doesn't flop. Also thanks for showing that the stock changed name. I like to keep an eye on it.
Seems like a solid phone honestly
As a KW citizen, I really hope this doesn't flop. Also thanks for showing that the stock changed name. I like to keep an eye on it.
Me too. It's a normal day for BB on the stock market today. I'm hopeful the stocks will surge in the upcoming days [editline]fsfads[/editline] they're already going up
It does seem like a pretty nice phone. I'm very interested to see how they fare now that the Blackberry is up to "modern" smartphone standards.

Wait, so the old Research in Motion branding is gone?
The stocks app on my iPod still lists it as RIMM.
Yes, same for me on my android. Maybe they have to tell their investors that the name's going to be changed before people freak out saying "WHERE'D MY RIMM/RIM GO" [editline]30th January 2013[/editline]
Wait, so the old Research in Motion branding is gone?
That's correct. RIM is now Blackberry. One Brand. One Promise. -Thorsten Heins
Wait, so the old Research in Motion branding is gone?
Apparently. Rebranding everything as Blackberry. I should go see if they're replacing their RIM logo on their buildings next time I'm around the Uni of Waterloo area. [editline]30th January 2013[/editline]
One Brand. One Promise. -Thorsten Heins
You'd better deliver on that promise, Heins.

I've always liked the "Blackberry" logo Also he's got no choice. This is make-or-break. But Heins says the unveiling is Just the beginning

Having had a go with this recently i will say it's very very nice to use. Their new on screen keyboard alone is an impressive upgrade but with all the rest of the changes it's significantly better than BB OS7. But even with nice software and nice handsets i don't think it's going to do much to save the company. It'll just be trying to pry Android users away and cutting into WP7/8 market share, Apple users tend to stay that way.
You know Blackberry in the last few years really seems like commodore in it's dying days. Desperately trying to save itself.

But the BB10 is supposed to be more innovative than the rest. For example, the all-touch device doesn't even have a 'Home button" because it's all run from shortcuts that you swipe with your finger. Blackberry's been good at doing what other people haven't done yet, it's just they take forever to catch up, which is why people fear it's too late for Blackberry to even get their foot in the door

The idea of gestures anyway, although it was done in an area offscreen for the most part.
One of the reasons BlackBerry 10 is arriving a little late is because they took it back to the drawing board and did some rethinking. People have the misconception that this will be directly competeing with Android/iPhone - which it does in a way, but BlackBerry wants to attack the business crowd again rather than the teenage crowd. I bet you nothing Android or iOS offers in terms of business tools can touch what BlackBerry is currently offering with BB10. They wanted to get away from the already over-saturated mobile media-machine market and go back to the business market.
One of the features they've created to achieve this, is Blackberry Balance. Where you can seamlessly switch between work and personal workspaces, which essentially connects you to Blackberry Enterprise when you're at work, and Blackberry Internet when you're using it personally

You can tell the Blackberry reps are genuinely enthusiastic about it too as they haven't had any nice new toys to play with for over a year now.
Sounds nice, is this the first device of Blackberry which has a touchscreen? Also i had to do this Looked like it would match
I got to see the OS a few months back, it was really impressive
Sounds nice, is this the first device of Blackberry which has a touchscreen? Also i had to do this Looked like it would match
There was the BlackBerry Storm a long while back.
The bold 9900 had one, and it wasn't a giant button like the Storm.
There was the BlackBerry Storm a long while back.
Not to mention the 9900 Bold is touch screen aswell
There was the BlackBerry Storm a long while back.
And it was awful Then the Storm 2 which was also awful And the Touch Torch which was awful the Touch Curve was alright though It's a sad trend RIM haven't had much luck with touch only devices and have done much better with hybrid mobiles. That is why they took so long with the new phones and why i was so surprised when i liked it.

At this point, trying to compete with Apple, Windows and Google is entirely pointless.
At this point, trying to compete with Apple, Windows and Google is entirely pointless.
Is this a joke? the blackberry 10 has already proven itself faster than the iphone5 not to mention iphone loyalty is declining now, plus the windows phone 8 is garbage. androids really the only obstacle, and blackberry offers features android devices aren't capable of.
For one thing, you won't have any chinkey chonk OEM's taking a shit on BB OS 10, that can do nothing but help their brand image.
Customization is a bad thing?
Customization is a bad thing?
When executed more sloppily than a lame donkey taking a shit, yes.
