Then there's try-hards. Then there's this tiny little gap with people who play good, but aren't douches. Finally, there's the top-tier egocentric assholes.

I'm pretty sure this one was just supposed to be a joke. Some of the computer blabber (like the visual basic GUI interface in CSI:NY) was just the writers putting a bunch of computer terms in one sentance, but this one just feels like they're taking the piss of that kind of stuff. I mean, do you guys really believe that the 16 cores part was just them not doing the research? NCIS is overall a pretty non-serious show, at least a lot less serious than all the CSI ones, so I think them putting a joke like this wouldn't be impossible.
