EA has previously had some issues where players who have been banned on the forums have had their ban extend to the EA accounts and all games associated with it. The latest incident involves a Battlefield 3 player who was banned for 72 hours for playing the game after he posted a forum message on Battlelog containing the word “badass”. He then received the following email from EA:
Your Electronic Arts account has been suspended for 72 hours for violating the Terms of Services for Electronic Arts Online.
Violation:Inappropriate language
[almost as badass as germany. Switzerland: they do a lot of stuff I think that just about sums up europe.]
It’s odd that EA would ban a player for using a word like “badass”, while Battlefield 3 itself has some of the most offensive swearing ever seen in a game, both in the singleplayer and especially the voice over in multiplayer. We dunno if there were other factors involved in the decision to ban, but it does seem like an overreaction, especially considering the content of Battlefield 3.

Inappropriate language is the stupidest thing ever. What the fuck.
WOW. REALLY EA?
How is this news worthy?
People get shot and stabbed and blown up in the game but you can't swear
dat automerge break
Fucking EA.
This IS the same game that lines like "get your fucking shit back together", amirite?
Why is swearing so fucking offensive to some people
It's just a fucking chunk of syllables, it doesn't fucking hurt you
"Bad language" is, and probably always will be one of the stupidest things that someone can get punished for in a video game
This kind of reminds me of how WoW added a bunch of quests about digging through literal shit, but you're not actually allowed to mention them.
Yay hypocritical game companies
EA dudes are clearly not badass.
That's so bada- DAMN YOU CL0CK.
And meanwhile the soldiers in BF3 swear like a pissed off sailor.
But BF3 is rated M. It's not meant for children.
Not to mention what everybody's already said about BF3 containing shitloads of aggressive, "realistic" swearing. Battlelog is ONLY for BF3, an M rated game with swearing and killing in it.
Actually that's funny now that I think. I remember either Punkbuster or BF2CC had a system to warn about swearing - let's just think about that for a second. BF2's point was to work together to kill other people, and why do we care about swears exactly? The same applies to BF3, but even moreso because BF3 has so much swearing to begin with.
All the sentences in the world could not express my frustration with this shitty publisher and how happy I am to have boycotted my favourite series of all time.
I wonder when Companies will get it through their retarded fucking thought that people who post on battlelog have bought the game that's 18+

I could not resist.
Though this is really stupid. I was wondering if the whole childish server admin syndrome replicated itself in more...professional places.
Unfortunately, my guess is right.
[sp]Why must all the bad things I think about com true?[/sp]
Shouldn't this be up to server admins, not EA?
Reminds me of when I played a MMO where this guy (probably a kid) played and literally waited for you to call him something bad like asshole or gay faggot or anything from simple to complicated, and then reported everyone that did so just to have them banned for 3 days from the game.
Happened to me. I didn't even notice I had get banned for 3 days until the last day of the ban. I think I just told him to fuck off or something. Meanwhile, people wasted 5000 euros or more for end game gear and roammed free and happy.
Ontopic: whats so bad about badass again?
Shouldn't this be up to server admins, not EA?
But he wrote that on battelog, not ingame.
Soon the EA forums will be a ghost-town. :suicide:
jesus christ EA. its like you WANT people to hate you.
you cant ban people for using launguage in an M rated game that has language as a reason. it is not logical.
i was playing BC2 earlier and the server seriously said "no language" but then the announcer was like "THESE GUYS ARE HAMMERING US WE BETTER GET THE FUCK OUT OF HERE"
oh the irony...

I hate servers that do that so much.
How badass is that?
EA: Ya Wanna Hang with Us? Don't Cuss!
oh shit we got a... yeah that's an enemy jeep in our AO
EA: Ya Wanna Hang with Us? Don't Cuss!
The Little Censors Club. Great.
In Battlefield 3? Of all games?
The game where your soldier yells: UNGH, DIE YOU MADER FAAKER AAAAGH when you revive a teammate?
I've seen commercial ads on tv that had more profound language than badass. What nonsense is EA pulling, do they have a list of words we are or aren't allowed to use on their forums?
