• Pink Floyd Laser Light Show (in detroit because I'm a G)

Sunday (yesterday), me and 2 friends and my cousin drove to the DTE Energy music theatre to witness a laser/light show to the music of Pink Floyd. It was no concert, but we don't care; the 3rd row seats we got were $10 a pop, and Pink Floyd is just generally mindblowing. So we get there and buy our shirts, then we see they're selling 3D glasses or some shit for the show.
You can buy some of these glasses at the stands, they're optional but they will definitely ENHANCE the viewing experience; and to those of you who are already "enhanced": you're on your own.
They were only like $2, and after my friend exclaimed "I WANT MY LASERS ENHANCED", we shelled out and got them only to discover they were prism glasses. Basically like 3D glasses, only the paper used isn't a red/blue filter, it's a material that splits light, which can create kaleidoscopic effects and rainbows. The setup was basically 3 big white panels surrounded by steel framework, for the projectors. Anyway, so the show starts up, and we put our glasses on. They played Dark Side of The Moon cover to cover, then did some from The Wall, Wish You Were Here, Animals, and probably more that I can't recall. The lasers drew images and shapes and shit on the panels on the stage and lights violated our eyes through the LSD goggles, while the speakers that were not even 15 feet from us raped our eardrums with the most soothing and amazing music of all time at a billion decibels. Then shit got real. The final song was a song I haven't heard from Pink Floyd, or at least not that I remember (it was really crazy, heavy on distortion guitar and synth, fast beat). In any case, by this time it's pitch black out, so all we can see are the lights on the stage, which get increasingly more chaotic. It's pretty crazy for the average person, but don't forget: Our lasers were enhanced. I'm sitting back in my seat having my mind fucked by what I can only describe as the worst acid trip that never happened, and then it was all over. Amazing show, would totally do it again. Story isn't over either. We're driving home at like midnight, through mostly city/residential areas, and we get the idea to put our glasses on again. Shit hit the fan. There were fucking rainbow unicorn horns exploding out of every possible light source and crazy ghostlike projections of street signs. We didn't even do the shrooms and we were tripping balls, windows down, volume on high. Bulletproof by La Roux came on and 4 straight guys sang it at the top of their lungs while wearing 3D prism glasses at midnight driving through Westland. Rainbows man. So yeah, it wasn't a Pink Floyd concert, but it was still pretty awesome. Awesome night all-around.
i didnt know light shows were still happening.
My mind would be 10x more blown by hearing the actual Pink Floyd live.. Still pretty cool though I guess

Roger Waters was going to do a concert at the American Airlines center here in like September. Then he managed to gather the rest of the band up to do a concert at the American Airlines center here in like September. Guess what? I'll be there.
If that last song was Echoes I fucking envy you.
If that last song was Echoes I fucking envy you.
I already envy the fuck out of him. I've been wanting to see a laser light show set to Floyd for so long.

I want to walk around with these glasses now.
They still have them here in Pittsburgh. I really want to go to one but can never find the time!
Dude, Yuki. I didn't know there was a laser show or I would have came. I love pink floyd, and I love lasers :D
Holy fuck, this sounds so rad. Where can I get these glasses from?
:pcgaming:

:lsd:
Wow, sounds amazing. I'm actually going through that way next week, can you be more specific as to where i can get tickets etc?
Oh I saw a laser show with live pink floyd not too long ago. It was really awesome.
Saw one a few years back...was epic Get the glasses...they may seem gimmicky but trust me they make it hella more awesome
OP, can you post links to where to get tickets etc? I'd love to go to something like this, and I'm not that far away from Detroit.
That last song was probably Echoes.
i wish i'd gone to this. a few of my friends did.
I went to a Roger Waters concert a couple years back. It was incredible. They kind of had a light show, but it wasn't incredible. They brought down a replica of the prism from the cover of DSotM which shot out all the colored lights. That was pretty awesome. I might go see David Gilmour in a while also.
Pink Floyd is what you put on when you want to have sex. Hardcore.
I saw this at the OC fair in California, never listened to Pink Floyd much before 'cause it's not my shit, but I still thoroughly enjoyed it. Worth the psuedo-trip. :p
Actually I think the last song was "One of these days" And I forgot I too saw Roger Waters a few years ago...that was also epic
I'm going to see Waters in November here in Atlanta. I also saw a lightshow recently as well. So much awesome.
