So I recently climbed a trail called skyline, it is a mountain near the Kenai Peninsula. The trail is 1.5 miles long and 1 mile high, almost vertical the whole way. Now I know it isn't Mount Everest but the view from the top is amazing. NOW IT IS TIME FOR PICTURES! This series of pics is from the first time up, we stopped 300 feet from the top because there was snow blocking the trail and it was SLICK. 20 minutes in. Anyways onto the second trip up. The peak to the right of the snow is where we are going. The view is amazing, it is so high up you can see the curve in the earth...
tl;dr: OP looks like Harry Potter.
That's pretty cool. You made me wanna try this now :v:
-snip for stupidity-
You guys climbed with no gear and wearing only pants and the shirt on your backs?
You guys climbed with no gear and wearing only pants and the shirt on your backs?
We all had backpacks with enough food for 3 days and enough gear to climb a rock face. plus a 12 gauge.
I want mountains close to where I live so I can also climb them :saddowns:
You guys climbed with no gear and wearing only pants and the shirt on your backs?
it's 1.5 miles
You can't even see the curve of the earth from a 14er. You need to be about 6 million feet above sea level to see it.
Yeah, that's higher than most (if not all) satellites and a bit bigger than the moon's diameter. You're probably right.
Yeah, that's higher than most (if not all) satellites and a bit bigger than the moon's diameter. You're probably right.
Yeah, that was moronic.
does that tattoo say BOSS?
When you said skyline trail, I thought you were referring to the one that is on the front of all Nova Scotia's tourist brochures. Due to the shape of the mountains in the surrounding area, it is always very windy at the top. I nearly got blown off the boardwalk.
does that tattoo say BOSS?
It does.
I went camping recently with some friends on a 14er and climbed near the top but not all the way, we had about 60MPH winds up there.
The trail is 1.5 miles long and 1 mile high, almost vertical the whole way.
I expected to see pictures of you walking up an 89 degree slope. Thread didn't deliver.
Are there any mountain lions up there?
Are there any mountain lions up there?
Lots of bears. But I had a 12 gauge Beretta with 3" slugs.
