I have a recovery drive created and I want to refresh Windows 8.1 because I'm an impatient bastard who had to have the latest version. I restart after selecting the "Refresh Windows" option, and it just starts by reminding me I have insufficient pace on my 64gb SSD, with Windows 8.1 installed. I'm wandering if I can make it recognise I have a separate internal HD that I'm able to format/partition/use. Just to make sure I have uninstalled everything, one program at a time.
I was also hoping to get back to Windows 8 but I understand if I cannot do that, as I took the upgrade offer while it was there an still have my serial file and No.
Thanks for any help and tell me if I need to clarify anything or everything!
If its saying about insufficient drive space, it may indicate that drive does not have enough space for system recover data. you may need to buy yourself bigger SSd and move your windows installation to the new drive. If you can't afford that, consider removing junk data to save space.

If Microsoft made it easier, or at least more obvious to the Layman how to get a Copy of windows 8, whether digital or physical if you have already paid for it I wouldn't be having this problem. If it is at all possible to "Move" the installation I wouldn't know.
P.S I have uninstalled everything, might as well be a refresh, and still don't have enough room.
You say you have a recovery drive created? If by that you mean a backup, format your main harddrive and install Windows 8.1.
No, it isn't a full back-up I think. It's 1.6gb of files, and I created it after uninstalling everything. So could it be?
All the recovery options with 8.1 (in settings anyway) just tell me the required files "Would be found on your installation media". But because I took the upgrade so I have no installation media.
Well, only easy solution then is to back up all the stuff you want to keep (check it at least 3 times) to a flash drive or other external media, create a windows 8(.1) reinstallation disk, format your harddrive and reinstall windows from the reinstallation disk.
Protip: Check that your reinstallation disk works before formatting :v:
How would I go about creating one of these discs?
Well, if your computer came with a "Restore disc" or something of the like, then use that. If not you may have to torrent Windows if you aready got it legally. In that case it's actually 100% legal to torrent windows, as long as you're not using a crack.

Ok I'll do that. Good idea.

Anyone recommend a tutorial on how to burn onto a DVD correctly, with a MBR. Don't have a USB big enough.
I gave in and returned to 7. Will go to 8.1 when officially released.
