The most complete view yet of a possible human ancestor uncovered in South Africa has revealed an intriguing mix of human and ape traits.
The two-million-year-old remains of several partial skeletons belonging to a previously unknown humanlike species were found in 2008 near Johannesburg.
The new analysis shows this species -Australopithecus sediba - had a human-like pelvis, hands and teeth, and a chimpanzee-like foot.
The findings appear in Science journal.
In six separate research reports, scientists probed further into the anatomy of a juvenile male skeleton, commonly referred to as MH1, a female skeleton, known as MH2, and an isolated adult tibia or shinbone, known as MH4.

-cut cut snip snip cut-
Homo Erectus Farnsworth? sounds like a better name.
and a chimpanzee-like foot.
Can't we call them "Ilene"?
why is it that most of these discoveries are made like 4-5 years ago but are only just being reported?

It takes some time to verify.

You can't rush science bitch
That thing is very scary looking. Normally when I see a foot like that I expect to also see the tall pelvis associated with primates.

And that skull is so round O_O
Show us the missing link!

doesn't this just like, prove evolution and everything is done and nobody can debate ever again.
doesn't this just like, prove evolution and everything is done and nobody can debate ever again.
no lmfao there's already an insurmountable body of evidence and they're going to deny it until they die.
doesn't this just like, prove evolution and everything is done and nobody can debate ever again.
It doesn't conclusively prove anything but it is more evidence for evolution. Anyone who would cite a "missing link" will just choose something else that we haven't found yet.

Humans are apes...
[editline]14th April 2013[/editline]
Which makes the title of the movie "The Planet of The Apes" seem rather silly.
humans are not apes

Do you believe that humans and chimps can crossbreed? If your answer is "yes" or "possibly" then humans should be considered to be apes.
