What is quantum computing? It seems Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has at least some knowledge of the burgeoning technological field.
Before going into politics, Trudeau taught at the elementary and high school level in Vancouver, studied engineering and started a master’s degree in environmental geography. On Friday morning in Waterloo, Ont., Trudeau reached into that background in dealing with a reporter’s question about quantum computing.
“I was going to ask you to explain quantum computing but…” the reporter said before asking a serious question about Canada’s role in defeating ISIS.
But Trudeau answered the question anyway.
You know, I can't decide if this guy is a prick or if he's cool. Maybe a bit of both.
No really go on, what you said is now elementary to people with some science education.
If he did he would get into probability

There are just tons of butthurt conservatives that critique every single thing he does saying that he doesn't know what hes talking about or doing, and maybe this is a good way for him to prove them wrong.

yeah but he also comes out with genius stuff like

So did he answer the other question about restarting the mission against ISIS?
So did he answer the other question about restarting the mission against ISIS?
He might have, the video ends with him about to say something but it cuts out before we can hear what he was going to say.
Hey our glorious hat, can we borrow Justin for a bit?
Thx

Last time you asked that, Bieber happened. Never again.

What do you mean?
Never say never.
Not really an accurate explanation, good that he's willing to try and explain it. Most people just write it off as magic/impossible physics and consign it to mathematicians.

What was the context of this?
Last time you asked that, Bieber happened. Never again.
Difference here is we'd give you Beiber back if you want him, Trudeau we'd keep locked in a closet somewhere spitting out good ideas for our government.

Is there a source on this quote? I can't find one, want to know context etc
this guy seems pretty cool

You know, this is the only source I can find (and it isn't very good, and is unsourced itself). So perhaps it is made up. However, my suspicion is that it is real and is him trying to describe the common left-wing idea of 'blowback'.
Yup that's my PM.

This is the guy who brought gender discrimination back "because it's 2015"(apparently because it's been too long since it was supported so shamelessly???), supported the TPP, and named "gamergate" as a public enemy.
but he said a geeky thing, guys, he checks out! The only reason you might dislike him is because you're a filthy conservative!
He was going fine until he started talking about wave-particle duality and the uncertainty principle. Still better than just going "hurr durr science nerd bullshit idk".
I really don't care lol.
I voted NDP and still think this is better than both Mulcair OR Harper getting in. This guy is a million times more outgoing than anyone I've ever seen on the hill.

Speaking of Mulcair, he got booted pretty badly by his own party a few days ago lol. Not a lot of folks in Quebec like him, because of his past political background at the provincial level.
JT is so damned cool.
Really envious of you canadians.
Kind of nonspecific outline of quantum computing. Should have mentioned spin and entanglement theory
Did he ever actually answer the question about ISIL or did he do that to try and get out of answering the real question?

That is what is known as a close call. Last thing we'd need if we'd elected Mulcair would be a leadership crisis six months into office.

Not really. The main reason he got booted out is specifically because he didn't win the elections and he's taking the blame for it (justified since he said he was taking full responsibility for the failure).

I don't think that was the audience for that. He probably tried to bring it down to the most important point that a decent chunk of people may actually understand and remember if they cared a bit about it. Terminology like spin and entanglement theory that you have to define to reliably work with them in front of a general audience can cause most people to tune out, whereas it's relatively common knowledge that computers only understand 1s and 0s at the most basic level.

You don't have to be a conservative to hate Trudeau. I'm generally pretty progressive and I hate the guy because progressive social policies are the last thing we should be concerned about right now. Fix the economy first please.

Surely they're not mutually exclusive?
