• Some games stuttering?

Q6600 @ 2.4Ghz 4GB DDR2 RAM 8800GT 600W PSU Windows 7 Please help. I am experiencing stutter in a few games that I have. I can't provide a full list, but the current list of games are CSS, Portal and L4D2 (not really stuttering, but it's slower than usual). The thing is, CSS and L4D2 sometimes works perfectly. Where exactly do I start testing? I have updated my drivers to the latest one (well sorta, Nvidia's latest one is bugged). I have formatted more than a month ago because of the expiration of the RC. Everything was working perfectly until a few days ago. I cant recall what I have done to possibly trigger this event. I am currently reinstalling sound drivers. Tomorrow, I'll hopefully be borrowing my friends GFX card. ------- Burnout Paradise works perfectly BF2 works perfectly Warcraft 3 works perfectly
have you defragged your hard drive? Is your hard drive clogged up? you need at least 12 or 20% free also, virus check?
I was having the problem in BF BC 2 but then I formatted and that fixed all my problems. I'm on Windows 7 Ultimate.
I have scanned the computer with avast yesterday. Nothing came up. Windows defrags my computer every Wednesday. I also have 40gb free/60gb on C: and 200gb free/402 on D:. The thing is, I really don't want to format unless its the last resort. But I don't know. =/
Well since you have such a huge other drive just backup on it, trust me you wont regret it.
It's all one physical hard drive. Everything is on D:. Game installs, .exes, etc. The only things that are not are the main programs such as Firefox, Drivers, etc. If I just format my C:, how do I get things installed on the D: to work again?
Well, you could try something more than just avast, perhaps Malware bytes.
I'll assure you I don't have a virus. I've got condoms around the ethernet connection. The only threats are web cookies, and they're rated as low.
