So my friend is turning 16 tomorrow and we're going to play paintball, So I have some questions about what I should expect.

What should I wear? Anything in particular?
How many paint balls should I buy? My friends brother, who has played once previously ,suggested 1000, but knowing him I think he'd be a bit trigger happy going by his personality.
Will I get bruised like some people have said I will?
Does it hurt when the paintballs hit you? I know I'll feel it, but will I be in much pain?
Any tips for playing?
Is air soft the same thing as paintball?
Any serious answers much appreciated
Ok, after having done it; Thighs bruised Got shot in the hand and it started bleeding (suggest gloves for anyone going in the future) Paint balls that don't explode certainly hurt much more I didn't feel every paintball that hit me Flanking is very important It's worth buying extra balls Try shooting out of both sides of cover, it makes you harder to hit. Was against a wall, shot twice from one side, spun around and shot from the other side, he didn't expect me there. Being Trigger Happy is better than being too conservative.
Buy an athletic cup.
dont go one of my friends friends said that he saw someone get hit with a paintball and it went under the helmet, and bounced into their eye and caused them extreme shock which in turn killed them.
wear layers
Not sure if I'll get more than 2 on, it's been kinda hot around here lately.
Bring a real gun to ensure lasting victory
Hardest I've laughed all day.
dont go one of my friends friends said that he saw someone get hit with a paintball and it went under the helmet, and bounced into their eye and caused them extreme shock which in turn killed them.
Yeah I doubt that will happen to me... If it does I'll have my next of kin inform you.
indoor or outdoor?
Googled it, it's an outdoor venue.
Wear one layer that protects vitals. The way I see it, the more it hurts, the more motivation to not get hit.
Don't bother about a cup, they give you overalls, that combined with a pair of jeans you should wear is sufficient enough, doesn't hurt much at long range, close quarters they fucking hurt, yes it will leave bruises, nice big ones, get the 1000 balls, if it's your first time going you're going to be trigger happy.
outdoor , get a fucking ghillie suit prown around them and stab them in the leg with a rubber knife or something , should "kill" them
Not sure if I'll get more than 2 on, it's been kinda hot around here lately.
get long sleeves and roll them up above the elbow, I'd wear gloves if I was you. Put on some gym shorts under your jeans. maybe a sweatshirt, whatever is comfortable
when I paintball I wear nothing but shorts and t-shirt it gets fucking HOT
my friend got shot in the head with a paintball gun once, it went through the mask and was deflected by his eye right into his skull and landed in the middle of his brain he did not survive. don't go.
While I respect your friend's life and death (Assuming you are telling the truth), it was a fluke.
your name entitles me to believe your post
well he asked for serious answers so i thought who would be better to step up to the challenge than a serious poster
Wear one layer that protects vitals. The way I see it, the more it hurts, the more motivation to not get hit.
I like your thinking.
outdoor , get a fucking ghillie suit prown around them and stab them in the leg with a rubber knife or something , should "kill" them
Do they actually have 'knifes'? Would be interesting if they do... But painful, try run up and knife someone, they spin and shoot you at 2 foot range..
Is air soft the same thing as paintball?
1 - Wear old clothes, I learnt the hardway the last time I went, at least shoe wise, I had to go home in my socks because my trainers got slaughtered in mud and had to go out and buy a new pair. 2 - Tbh, I've never needed anymore Paintballs then the standard amount they give you, just depends if you can fight the urge to just spray n pray 3 - You will get bruised but you won't feel the after effects till the morning after 4 - When you get hit, it does sting, depends how many times they shoot you aswell, and you won't be in pain, you just tend to forget about it 5 - Tips.. Lay low and Preferably stick with someone. Last time I went we played this game mode where you have to get to the flag and the match was nearly over, so I ran to my mate and he's like 'come on, lets make a run for it' so we did and just before we got to the hut we got completely raped by about 4 people and I've never been in so much pain lol, they knew we were out but kept hammering on us, but thats the whole point in it. 6 - I don't know much about air soft. Also if your in the UK, at least the 2 places I've been they give you these to wear: http://www.cacawc.com/media/gbu0/cat/PBUC_Overalls.jpg And you can buy extras, like smoke grenades, paintball grenades
Hardest I've laughed all day.
you obviously haven't looked in your pants today then zing x 100 (list) wait why am I attacking you
Paintballing is just more expensive than airsoft so whats the point?

You could go through 5000. 3:You only get bruised if you get hit in the body or legs. Use your facemask to absorb all the paint, it only taste horrible, but it's better than pain. 4:Plan things out before you do them. No you will not make it running 20 feet to the next area of cover. You're gonna get shot up like a bitch. NEVER TAKE OFF YOUR FACE MASK 5:No it's not like air soft. Air soft pellets go faster and sting more and sometimes embed into your skin. Paintball just gives you welts. Post pics of your battle wounds
While I respect your friend's life and death (Assuming you are telling the truth), it was a fluke.
then why are there already 2 people that this has happened to
Ok, I seriously doubt a paintball broke someone's arm.
Don't go, I was there when my friend died, he was in horrible pain the whole time, his face was a covered in blood mixed with paint, he died screaming in pain. Another friend of mine got shot in the arm, he wasn't wearing very thick clothing so the paintballs got lodged in his arm, breaking his arm. The area got infected and his whole arm from the shoulder had to get amputated.
don't listen to this guy
then why are there already 2 people that this has happened to
2 out of the millions, if not more, that play paintball. I'd call that a fluke.
1. What should I wear? Anything in particular? Anything you don't mind getting ruined. Wearing some gloves might be a good idea. 2. How many paint balls should I buy? My friends brother, who has played once previously ,suggested 1000, but knowing him I think he'd be a bit trigger happy going by his personality. I would go with a lot, a lot of the people you play with will go 'OH SHIT' and hide if you run out of bush blasting a flurry of paintballs in their direction. 3. Will I get bruised like some people have said I will? Probably yeah. 4. Does it hurt when the paintballs hit you? I know I'll feel it, but will I be in much pain? Close range, yes it hurts like a bitch. Average-long range it's more like a small sting, slight bruise and that's it. Don't think too much about it, get really into the game and the pain will just fuel your rage to carry on. 5. Any tips for playing? Position yourself well, lay in ditches and try reduce how much of your body is out in the open. You really, REALLY don't wanna get shot in the nuts. 6. Is air soft the same thing as paintball? Pfff, no clue.
