Taliban urges Obama to pull out US troops and admit defeat
Kabul: Taliban insurgents told re-elected President Barack Obama on Wednesday to admit that the United States has lost the war in Afghanistan and pull its troops out now.
"Obama must by now know that they have lost the war in Afghanistan," spokesman Zabiullah Mujahid said in a statement posted on the Islamists' website.
"So, without further lying and delays, they should leave our sacred land and focus on their own country instead."
Accusing Americans of committing war crimes, he added: "The American administration should stop acting like police in the world and focus on solving their own people's problems, and don't make the world hate Americans even more."
The Taliban, who ruled Afghanistan from 1996 until 2001, were ousted by a US-led invasion for harbouring Al Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden after the 9/11 attacks.
They have since waged a bloody insurgency against the government of President Hamid Karzai, which is backed by more than 100,000 NATO troops, mostly Americans.
All NATO combat troops are due to withdraw by the end of 2014 and hand responsibility for security to Afghan forces.

All glory to victorious Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan!
Fair play.
"So, without further lying and delays, they should leave our sacred land and focus on their own country instead."
Yea, I can agree with that I guess.
I hate to say it, but the Taliban statement does present its argument well. It's just that the US withdrawing now would make the country practically collapse in on itself.
There's a good chance that they'll just attack us more, but it's more likely that they just want to be left alone.

Taliban never attacked the US outside of Afghanistan and Pakistan.
He's right. Nothing more to it.
our fist is far too deep in Afghanistans asshole to just yank it out
I completely disagree, it's barely even a war and more of a policing mission, and considering if the coalition forces leave the Taliban will just take over and probably kill thousands, I think it'd be better if coalition forces stayed and kept the Taliban at bay.

Not without risking a massive economic prolapse.
Weren't we already leaving anyways? This sounds like they're trying to bait them into staying.

Why on Earth would they want them to stay? If the coalition leave then the country is up for grabs and they have a decent chance at retaking it.

It's prolonging the inevitable.
Why on Earth would they want them to stay?
its both an economically and militarily a burden for us to be in Afghanistan.
The Taliban are employing a strategy similar to the one which contributed to the collapse of the USSR. Get your enemy in a quagmire.

maybe we can focus on our own land for once in a decade
something tells me angry republicans will still be against that
It's prolonging the inevitable.
As long as they stay the Taliban will never be able to retake the country and terrorize everyone like they used to, and personally that's how I, and probably most of Afghanistan, prefer it.

Any ulterior motives aside, I actually kinda agree with what they're saying. We really do need to stop being the world police.

So we can just stay there forever?
So we can just stay there forever?
Until the Taliban back down or the countries government can get things straight, yes.
As much as I hate to say it, the US has bigger problems of it's own to deal with rather then nursing other countries.

That wont be happening anytime soon...

Well I gotta disagree. We can't just hole up in Afghanistan indefinitely.
I think the ANA need more time to train, If it was me I'd pull out 2016

Maybe not stay as a full on military operation, but at least keep a decent amount around for peacekeeping and training the local army.

The problem is that the US started this. Can't just invade another country and then leave it to collapse into a civil war because you don't want to be there any longer.

You do realise that the Afgani people view the Taliban as less corrupt than the current sham of a government?
As far as they're concerned it's better to be ruled by someone you know where they stand, rather than those just serving their own interests.

Does not mean they want the Taliban in power.

At least they're not being treated like garbage as it was under the Taliban rule.
Seems like the Taliban are loosing and Obama is #Winning, They don't have as much ammo as the USA does, or resources.
The Taliban will never be ready to handle their own you'll always see car-bombs ect in that country it's happened before and will always happen Allah akbar tells them to.
I must admit, the Taliban judicial system is quick and efficient... morals are another question though.
