Citing "Marvel Studios insiders," The Los Angeles Times reports that the Marvel-Paramount movie will be released as simply The First Avenger in Russia, South Korea and the Ukraine. "Those involved in the decision are being careful to frame the move as a matter of brand management and consumer awareness and not as a decision tilted by cultural or political winds, " according to the paper. "In private, Marvel insiders said that early on in the project's planning there was talk that the title might need to be changed in numerous international markets but that there was a 'pleasant surprise' — the brand recognition of the comic-book superhero was so strong that it overrode those considerations in many places. That was not the case in Russia, South Korea and the Ukraine." Director Joe Johnston told the Times that in his film Steve Rogers "wants to serve his country, but he's not this sort of jingoistic American flag-waver. ... It's an international cast and an international story. It's about what makes America great and what make the rest of the world great too." If there was a Capitan Soviet Russia, would it kick Capitan America's ass? Agree or disagree.
If there was a Capitan Soviet Russia, would it kick Capitan America's ass? Agree or disagree.
Cold War. We'd do lot's of amazing shit and look badass but in the end one of us gets fucked up.
Cold War. We'd do lot's of amazing shit and look badass but in the end one of us gets fucked up.
It's starting to look like basically both, just one 20 years sooner.
If there was a Capitan Soviet Russia, would it kick Capitan America's ass? Agree or disagree.
Yes. And then he would starve to death. :v:
The movie itself will without any doubt be one huge fuckfest of American national pride so why you'd bother with the title is beyond me.
Captain America doesn't like the Russians either.
Is Captain Canada going to get a film? Edit: I was joking, you guys.!! I would prefer a film for Squirrel Girl.
Is Captain Canada going to get a film?
Zambonis don't really make for good chase scenes
If there was a Capitan Soviet Russia, would it kick Capitan America's ass? Agree or disagree.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Omega_Red Little is known about the past of Arkady Rossovich except that he was a serial killer born in Russia. He was captured by the Interpol agent Sean Cassidy and turned over to the KGB, which wanted to experiment and attempt to create a super soldier similar to Captain America. Omega Red is the end result. Dunno if that counts.
Can't say I'm surprised by this.
Zambonis don't really make for good chase scenes
Ouch... that's cold :v:
If there was a Capitan Soviet Russia, would it kick Capitan America's ass? Agree or disagree.
It would be too drunk.
a little off topic. Do they sell modern warfare in Russia when its about Russian killing?
I think it got Censored. on topic.....No Surprise really.
The Captain America movie should be made for nothing but satire of how patriotic and nationalistic America was back in those times
I'm pretty sure they'll realize who it is about when they get into the cinema. Does altering the title really make a difference?
Cold War. We'd do lot's of amazing shit and look badass but in the end one of us gets fucked up.
You mean one ends up being broke, pawning all his shit for cheap, and then joins organized crime with the pawn shop owners, and holds the gas for his neighbors hostage if they don't pay him. The other celebrates his victory, but without a stabilizing enemy, he goes a bit nuts and picks a bunch of fights that it is doubtful he could ever win, whilst becoming more and more paranoid, and pissing quite a few people off in the process.
If there was a Capitan Soviet Russia, would it kick Capitan America's ass? Agree or disagree.
Krimson Komrade! v:v:v

Makes sense since he wasn't drunk and suicidal enough to be Captain Russia
Well they could name him Captain USA. Does that sound better?
Well they could name him Captain USA. Does that sound better?
The character has been Captain America for the past 70 years.
I was joking, you guys.!! I would prefer a film for Squirrel Girl.
That would be an interesting film, if only because it would be a long string of one-sided fights between her and other marvel characters, culminating in a cliffhanger fight against Galactus.
