The United States will withdraw almost all its troops from Iraq by the end of the year, as a current agreement with Iraq dictates, a U.S. official told CNN Friday. Only about 150 troops, a negligible force, will remain to assist in arms sales.
The United States had expected that some of the roughly 40,000 Americans in Iraq would remain there to aid in training and security.
But the two nations were unable to reach a deal on a key issue regarding legal immunity for U.S. troops, a senior U.S. military official with direct knowledge of the discussions told CNN this month.
The United States wanted to retain immunity but the Iraqis refused to agree to that, opening up the prospect of Americans being tried in Iraqi courts and subjected to Iraqi punishment.
The negotiations were strained following WikiLeaks' release of a diplomatic cable that alleged Iraqi civilians, including children, were killed in a 2006 raid by American troops rather than in an airstrike as initially reported by the U.S. military.
Good. Now make it "all" troops, and get us the fuck out of Afghanistan.
Edit: Oops, didn't mean to say next year, can someone change it to "this year?"
And then suddenly money is diverted to other places as there isnt a need to pay 40k+ people hazard pay.
Besides that whole area is just a sinking boat right now with all these revolutions.
Is it a bad thing that I am skeptical about this?

Did they seriously think they were going to immunity after killing all of those civilians?
I hope we get out and stay out for good. Wasted enough money on this fucking war as it is.
Glad we're finally getting outl of there, never should have been there in the first place.
I doubt this. Don't get your hopes up.
Yeah, I'll believe it when I see it. 60 years later, we're still in Japan, Korea, Germany, Italy, England, etc.
I'm glad we're finally getting outl there, maybe now we can spend a bit less on these wars we have going on.
Yeah, I'll believe it when I see it. 60 years later, we're still in Japan, Korea, Germany, Italy, England, etc.
I'm pretty sure we don't have any active combat operations going on in any of those countries.
Hahaha.
The government tells you this every year so the peace advocates get shut up. I call bullshit. Always a loophole.
I'm pretty sure we don't have any active combat operations going on in any of those countries.
No, but we're still there. Germany and Japan I agree with because they're jumpoff points for other areas of the world, but we don't need to be in England and Italy...

This isn't what we're talking about at all.
We must have found a replacement for oil then.
We must have found a replacement for oil then.
Yeah, Iran. Those "agents" that were trying to kill people on US soil.
No, but we're still there. Germany and Japan I agree with because they're jumpoff points for other areas of the world, but we don't need to be in England and Italy...
Like I said before, we don't have any active combat operations there.
Finally that fraudulent waste of money and lives is coming to an end.
In the future news
Dec 29th
RELATIONS HAVE BEEN RE-ESTABLISHED, TROOPS WILL BE SECURING OIL FI--- NEW FORMED MILITARY BASES.

I dunno, those Germans look pretty dangerous, what with all of that wheat beer and black forest cake... :v:
This just in, all forces from Iraq have moved to Afghanistan.
Good. I think the Iraqi Army will finally be able to actually show what it can do.
And in before cynical hordes close in: read "Moment of Truth in Iraq" before you say "Iraqi Army? What's that?"
I'll believe it when I see it.
In other news, US really wanted legal immunity for their troops? Ahahahah what the fuck were they thinking? Yeah like your troops (or any other armed force) doesn't rape and torture enough in their stay in foreign countries already.

I think it is so they can go on trial back on the states if such a crime happened.
I don't think the countries they commit the crime in (like iraq) are suitable for fair and just trials.
after a million citizen deaths now off to uganda!
Obama has had some seriously successful foreign policy
