They're probably the insect/mouse equivalent of a kaiju or Lovecraftian titan, and a Shadow of the Coloussus boss for small creatures with the balls to attack, like a rat for example.
Regardless, lasers and cats are always a good combination. Except when the laser is a lasgun. Or if the laser gets in the cat's eye.
