http://christianengstrom.wordpress.com/2010/07/02/riksdagsimmunitet-for-the-pirate-bay/
The source is in swedish, but I'll do my best to summarize it:
Through its lifetime, The Pirate Bay has often been threatened to get closed down because of legal issues. But The Pirate Bay might get a break now. If the swedish Pirate Party gets into the Riksdag (parlament, I guess), the members elected will get legal immunity. If this should happen, they've promised to use this immunity to host TPB.
I'm not sure what the odds are, but the Pirate Party has been quite popular in Sweden, so perhaps it'll actually work.
Yay.
Woah that's Awesome.
Shame i can't go onto it cause im using the ONLY ISP THAT BLOCKS IT IN THE WHOLE WORLD.
Fuck Ireland
why is tpb such a big deal there's tons of torrent sites
why is tpb such a big deal there's tons of torrent sites
yeah but pirate bay has a better name and a cool front page drawing
why is tpb such a big deal there's tons of torrent sites
because tpb is better than the other ones
tpb actually has useful comments on many torrents so you can actually know whether it works and whether it's a virus without downloading.
and if tpb gets down, others will be sued easily I believe
Turn it into a site that also steams videos if that becomes the case. :h:

"BREIN" (dutch copyright defending company) tried to force our ISP's to block TPB, they got quite the opposide: "We're not blocking anything".
i'm looking for that clip from american dad where the jamaican painter goes "DEEPLOMATIC EEMYOONEETEE!"

If you live in north Ireland, let's swap.
Australia for North Ireland.
why is tpb such a big deal there's tons of torrent sites
Because the Pirate Bay is a lot more than just a torrent site. TPB is the physical manifestation of and was born from the Pirate Party which is a political movement; the only one that actually tries and gives two shits about issues relating to Internet integrity, privacy, government transparency, free speech, and reformation of the ancient patent system.
What TPB & the Pirate Party is doing is bringing these issues to the true, political level. If they succeed, the stone age-based groups that oppose the ideas of the Pirate Party cannot simply throw lawyers at them but instead be forced to actually consider their situation and accept their existence.
