Diaz said she received a frantic call from Cutter’s wife on Tuesday afternoon saying the duplex was gone. “I pull up, and — sure enough — it’s gone,” Diaz said. “There’s nothing left.”
more news from the weird desk

That's gonna be a hell of a lawsuit.
RIP to that company
Fuck up of the year right there.
How the FUCK do you do this. Blow up the building next to it, ok, I can see how, but a full fucking block away!?
Do they not even check inside the house and such? Obviously a fully furnitured home that looks like it's still in use, with a mailbox full and such would probably not be up for being demolished.

Watch as the company drags out the lawsuit as long as possible whilst offering a pittance of settlement money upfront.

When a house gets severely enough damaged to where they have to tear it down, they really don't let you in or out to gather your things. Considering a tornado came through the area recently, they were probably tearing down a home that was damaged by the tornado. Not playing devils advocate but just sayin'
Watch as the company drags out the lawsuit as long as possible whilst offering a pittance of settlement money upfront.
i'm pretty sure homeowners insurance would pay for this
i'm pretty sure homeowners insurance would pay for this
You don't think the insurance company will be demanding the demolition company pay for it? This isn't a freak of nature event, it may not even be covered by the family's insurance. This is why the demolition company has insurance.
Just think of all the personal items that must be destroyed, photo's, stuff from your dad/mother, important data on your PC (in case he didn't back up) and all of that because of a fuck up.

If I came home to that I honestly don't even think I could be mad. That's just a really impressive fuckup.

The Insurance company will cover the losses(probably, I need to read the policy to be sure) and they will subrogate against the demolition company for their money back and the demolition company will probably lose.
Woops
“That’s what their job is -- to wreck it in demo, and they really wrecked my life,” Diaz said.
Damn...
"Eh sorry, but we accidentaly blew up your house. If you have any questions please call this number"
"Eh sorry, but we accidentaly blew up your house. If you have any questions please call this number"
Here's a coupon, next demo free.

Sans the important personal belongings and precious family memories being crushed, I would love for this to happen to me Gimme the big lawsuit $$$
When a house gets severely enough damaged to where they have to tear it down, they really don't let you in or out to gather your things
I always find this to be a collosal amount of shit. Insurance or not, your personal belongings are in there. The place you paid for and owned. Yet some suit says you're not allowed into your own house to get your shit. You can fuck right off while I go in for my TV, computer and bankers box.

Running into a half collapsed structure has nothing to do with suits or anything else. It has to do with the high likelyhood that building is going to come down at any minute. [editline]23rd March 2016[/editline]
It will be literal years before they see a dime of money.
Depends. Their insurance policy, if they had one and if it's applicable(which is a big if at this point as there's not going to be anything written in most agreements about sudden destruction of the house like this, but I digress) will cover them in the short term as the insurance company goes to bat to get their money back from the Demo company, the family in question is more than welcome to sue and the chances are, they'll get jack shit from it because the company will likely be insolvent at that point, after having subrogated with an insurance company and their literal army of lawyers. I'm willing to bet that the insurers of the building will cover them because of the absurdity of the situation and the good press it'll get them in the long run. I'm not betting on the lawsuit though.
Holy shit, this is hilariously awful. It's comical even. From the article it seems they're ensured thankfully, but god damn that company might as well not even exist anymore. Fucking with an insurance company is one way to wipe your corporation off of the face of the planet.
How the FUCK do you do this. Blow up the building next to it, ok, I can see how, but a full fucking block away!?
Devil's advocate: These weren't city blocks, but suburb blocks. You can see in the video that the blocks in that suburb are 2 houses wide. The video also shows how the house that was taken down by mistake was heavily damaged by the tornado, even if it was still structurally sound. Furthermore, the address of the mistakenly demolished house was 7601 Calypso Drive, while the house that was supposed to be demolished was 7601 Cousteau Drive. The houses were almost right next to each other, both looked like shit, and had incredibly similar addresses. Decent and competent human being's advocate: Nevertheless, this is the kind of mistake you make as a pizza deliveryman, not a demolition company.
I am a Demo in Texas :v: But yeah someone who saw the company as they started the demo stated something along the lines of "I would not trust that company with any construction job". Then that person read 2 hours later about them fucking up
RIP to that company
Doubtful. Standard liability insurance has a very good shot at covering this. Depends on where exactly the fuckup occurred of course.
Obviously they just change the number on mail box. Also, Didn't this happen last year with basically some guy changing the numbers on the mail box?
