I've been having some problems getting my PC to boot consistently. When I push the power button, I will sometimes get nothing. The PSU doesn't even power up. I will have to flip the PSU power switch off and back on to get it to boot up again, sometimes about 20 times in a row before it works. This used to happen every once in a while, now it seems like it's happening more and more.
The problem doesn't seem to be my PSU. When I jump the "power on" pin, the PSU powers up beautifully. I can even jump it from the back end of the 24-pin connector (leaving it plugged in), then hit the power button on my case, and it will boot up every time (so it's not the power button either). Un-jumping it will power it down, even though the pin is still connected to my motherboard. The pins look good, too, and the "wiggle test" yields no results. A motherboard reset did nothing to help either.
I appreciate any further troubleshooting advice. My motherboard is an Asus P5Q and my PSU is an OCZ GXS700, if you're wondering.
Troubleshooting with my multimeter, the voltage on the PSU power-on pin is only being puled to .150 volts when it doesn't work. When it works, it gets pulled down to .040V. I'm guessing my motherboard is to blame.
edit: ended up being hte PSU...
